Why is your character in Dominion territory? How did they get here?

Lydia fled from her familial pack a few years ago, and made her way to the opposite side of Tamriel: Auridon. She worked as a personal bodyguard for a low-ranking, rather rude Altmer noble before murdering him during an accidental transformation. She has since fled Auridon and resides somewhere in Malabal Tor nearby Vulkwasten.

--Background--

-Early Life-
Born in the middle of Morning Star, Lydia was raised by rather mundane parents up until her father's "incident" with a werewolf when she was just a young girl. He joined a pack, and soon after his family was offered their blessing. Lydia's father accepted on behalf of them.

As time passed Lydia's mother grew ever more resentful of her husband's decision to have them turned, and her hope for her daughter to lead a normal life diminished. She would secretly teach Lydia of the world outside the pack, and smuggled in books for her child to read.

Lydia's childhood innocence and cheer began to fade and she developed into a rather angry youth, an anger at least partially fueled by her cursed blood. She desperately strove for approval of her parents, but they expected different things from her. Lydia's father was thrilled to have her join in on hunts and encouraged her rage, where as her mother tried her best to guide her to a more normal life.

-Exile from Skyrim-
During the spring after Lydia's 24th winter everything changed for the Nordic woman. Lydia's mother had long been suspected of betraying the pack's beliefs and it was now that her stash of books had been discovered. With this solid proof that the pack was being torn apart, or so thought the pack's alpha, an execution was in order. Rather than flee, Lydia's mother prepared her daughter for what was to come. She gave her instructions for how to avoid those keeping watch over their territory and passed on a silver chain she always wore.

With her mother's necklace tucked in a pocket and tears clinging to the edge of her eyes, Lydia watched as her mother said her final goodbye. Her own father had volunteered to swing the sword. That night Lydia escaped her pack family under the cover of a dark, moonless sky and boarded the first ship she could get on.

-Recovery in Auridon-
Several weeks later she stepped foot into Auridon aboard a trade ship. Her mother's silver necklace still burned against her cursed skin, but so far it had proved helpful in keeping herself out of trouble. After some begging and a few fortunate connections she was brought in as a house guard for a low-ranking Altmer noble. She proved herself loyal, a trait she learned from her days in her pack, and even stopped several would-be thieves mid-heist. She became known for regularly pulling double-shifts, and though sometimes she would disappear from her post in the middle of the night and return a couple hours later this was overlooked due to her otherwise flawless performance.

After a couple of years a position "opened up" for the noble's chief of the guard. Lydia took it. The work became grueling as her employer became increasingly volatile. His small fortune grew smaller and smaller as he attempted to gain power, and as his funds shrunk his rage grew.

-The First Incident-
At the end of Lydia's final shift she laid down for another restless night as usual. She had just began to doze off when her employer burst into her quarters, demanding something along the lines of another cut in pay to the guard. The stench of wine surrounded his words. Lydia attempted to form a rebuttal, to which the noble replied with a fist. She defended herself against the Altmer's meager assault, only managing to piss her off, until he snatched her chain necklace and broke a weakened chain as he pulled. Rage enveloped the Nordic woman; Rage for her employer's petty behavior, rage for the remaining guards' ineptitude, rage for the breaking of the item she cherished most.

When the sun rose Lydia awoke more rested than she had been in the past four years. She packed up her few belongings: A smithing hammer she purchased while in Sentinel, her mother's silver necklace now with one less link, and the armor she had made for herself as the chief of the guard. She stepped around the half-dozen bodies that were strewn about the small manor's main hall as she made her way out. She mounted a horse and rode off for the nearest dock, hoping that this time she'd end up somewhere colder.

-Arrival in Vulkwasten-
Lydia arrived in the Bosmeri town of Vulkwasten with little more than a few coppers to her name. She spent her days camping out in a nearby cave and stretching her coin to last as long as she could. Eventually she met a khajiit by the name of Do'maadrul, who proposed the idea of starting a merchant company. Lydia accepted, and she put the last coin she had into starting negotiations with several independent sources of raw materials. After many sleepless nights she built up solid relations between the suppliers and a few craftsmen. As the network's overseer, Lydia is able to make a small profit through shipping costs and store profits, though she has seen shockingly little of the khajiit that started her down her current path.

-Meeting of Kashya-
After building up relations with the Vulkwasten locals, Lydia decided to participate in an archery competition by tending to the target. Of course, the target had to be up in one of the elevated roots of one of the town's great trees. While being curious of the competitors, Lydia was struck in the arm by a stray shot and began bleeding profusely after she pushed the arrow out of her without any medical aid. Several attempts were made to give the nord medical supplies from a distance, but all failed. Lydia continued to bleed out until an altmer woman by the name of Kashya Vulano made her way to the nord to stop the bleeding and carried her to the town clinic. While it was clumsy and full of delirious talk, it ended up being the beginning of something that seemed quite special.

-Return to Skyrim-
Several weeks later, after simply trying to live life after losing her mother's silver necklace, Lydia joined the town on their second attempt to rescue Marshal Thorn, the argonian leader of the Town Guard. Portals, portal sickness, and riddles ensued. As the group was leaving, Lydia watched as her companion, Kashya, stayed behind. She couldn't bear the thought of the womer being left behind on her own, so she decided to keep an eye on her. When the two stepped out into the cold Skyrim air, the rest of the rescue party had already disappeared. Lydia and Kashya had a less-than-calm discussion about being left behind, but agreed that they would meet in the nearby town that night before heading to Windhelm the next day.

That night after the shenanigans of rescuing Marshal Thorn, Lydia made a hasty trip into the mountains laying to the west of Windhelm. She found her destination, the rotting remains of her childhood cabin. The property was in shambles after years without care. Lydia couldn't bear to see her home in such a condition, and quickly returned to her companion.

Lydia and Kashya arrived in Windhelm and spent the day to themselves, mostly enjoying the local meads. That night, the two retired to bed together, and what occurred is best left ambiguous for privacy's sake. However, upon waking, they had somehow been transported into the water just off the northern coast of Vulkwasten in one final attempt by Marshal Thorn's kidnappers to antagonize the town. Fortunately, Lydia made it out of the situation unharmed, though the same could not be said of her now girlfriend. Lydia spent the next several days with her womer, spending most of the time sleeping with her in the clinic.

-The Second Incident-
Several days after the ocean incident, after a merchant's soliciting of good in the tavern, Lydia came across a rather unsavory bosmer. Usually she wouldn't give much thought to unwanted talk being thrown at her, but something felt different about it now. It felt, she thought, disrespectful of Kashya, whether the annoying mer was aware of their relationship or not. She attempted to confront the mer before his constant stream of un-charming words pushed her over the edge.

She experienced, for the first time since she fled to Malabal Tor, the beginnings of a transformation. Uncontrollably enraged, the nord put all the strength she had into stopping the change, but couldn't help herself from swiping at the mer and endangering her fellow townsfolk. To Lydia's relief, she had friends at the scene to hold her back somewhat and guards to diffuse the situation. After landing a successful hit to the annoying mer's head and a swipe of her claws to his side, Lydia's inner wolf became satisfied enough that she could calm it, but she had still committed assault. Downtrodden and defeated by her worst enemy, she accepted the guards' gracious sentence without argument.
