So much has happened to this one since awakening aboard that merchant ship. She feels the need to write it all out to help make some sense of it all. So she will go back to that fateful day and record what she remembers as best she can.

The gentle movement of the water rocking the boat, coarse blanket covering her body, talking of people calling out to one, this is what she woke to that morning that her life seemed to begin anew. She opened her eyes and looked around at the small cot and cabin that she was in. Weathered and worn wood created the cabin which held the cot, a small dresser with a lantern sitting in the middle of it and a three legged stool.
She raised herself up on her elbows, taking time to wake up and think about what happened and where she might be. Her head hurt some though not bad enough to stay lying down. She swung her legs off the side of the cot to sit up, immediately regretting it as the she became very dizzy as the room spun.
She must have really been hit hard on her head. Raising her hands to her head she found a bump on the right side which was tender but not large. She brushed her hands over her eyes as if to wipe away the fog that seemed to cover her memory.
Where was she? What happened to her? She could remember her name, Sarri Swiftsong. She remembered flashes of lightning, water and rain. That was all until waking here.
Sighing, she attempted to stand as sitting here was not going to get her any answers.
Rising made her head pound a little which eased up after a few moments. It seemed that other than the bump on her head she was fine. Looking at her arms she found cuts and scratches but they were minor. She did not feel any bandages on her body so knowing that these would heal, she was glad to be alive and able to move around.
Moving to the doorway, Sarri found that a narrow passageway led off to her left with a stairway at the end. Several other doorways opened up to the passageway, hers being at the end. Keeping her balance by leaning slightly on the wall she made her way to the stairs. She heard voices from above which she hoped was the crew for the ship. It did not seem as though they were moving thru the water but docked somewhere.
Reaching the stairway she looked up seeing that the stairway seemed to twist back upon itself as it climbed higher, hopefully to the deck of the ship. So up she climbed to get to the fresh air and sunlight she began to crave intensely.

Opening the wooden door that was at the top of the stairway bright sunlight greeted her with a light breeze smelling of water, fish and people calling out to one another while they moved about the vessel. She just stood there for a few minutes absorbing the elements, letting her eyes adjust to the sunlight, her nose smelling the different odors that seaport life brought.

“Hey, youse awake!” exclaimed a wood elf that was walking by with a big box, “Cap’ll be wantn’ ta speak wit ya rite away like. Go on wit ya, up dem stairs, youse’ll see her at ta wheel.” He nodded to some stairs to her right and proceeded to walk away.

Smiling and nodding her thanks, Sarri climbed the stairs to a higher deck that was to the back of the ship. Several elves and Khajiits were standing by the main wheel though she could tell by the manner of one Khajiit that that was the captain of this vessel.

Walking confidently towards the group she could hear many voices arguing back and forth. Though the captain did not talk Sarri saw that she listened as well as watched all around her. She saw Sarri coming towards her, held up her hand to quiet the group, and then nodded to Sarri.

“Greetings, walker. This one sees she has survived her time in the water. This is good.” The captain then nodded to the others, “That will be all for now. It can be settled later.”
With that the group dispersed, separating to two groups and talking softly to each other.

The captain was a tall slim but muscled Khajiit who stood at least a foot taller than Sarri. Her fur was dark tan with black stripes, her mane held back and braided, her eyes a deep green. She smiled and waved her hand for Sarri to come over to her, “Glad that she is finally up and around. This one is named Dari, Captain Dari to those who work the ship. What is her name?”
Sarri bowed slightly in respect, “Sarri Swiftsong, Captain Dari. She would use the Captain as she respects one that can captain a ship through the troubled waters that many see nowadays.”
“Aye, and Sarri is proof of the trouble, yes? Does she remember how she came to be floating on some pieces of shipwrecked boards?” the Captain queried.
“No, only remembers a terrible lightning storm. It is something that she wants to find out as she truly remembers nothing before waking here. And where would we be at, Captain Dari?”
“That is too bad. Memory loss is a very tricky thing, hmm? We are at Khenarthi’s Roost for now. We will be shoving off in a day or so.” Captain Dari answered, adding, “If Sarri needs to travel somewhere else as this is an island, she is welcome aboard though she will put her to work helping the crew.”

She stood back and took a look at Sarri, “Now, she was not found empty handed. Sarri has gear but the ship’s healer had removed it to take care of what needed healing. Sarri is lucky to not have any major injuries, yes?” Captain Dari looked up at an Argonian walking past the stairs and waved him over. “Walks-On-Boards, please show our guest where her things are that we found her with.” Then she turned to Sarri, “This one made sure all that she had is intact. With the armor and weapons Sarri would have drown for sure if not for that piece of wreckage. It would seem that maybe Sarri was a guard or something. She will see when she sees her gear.”

With that the Captain turned and went off down the stairway. Walks-On-Boards nodded to Sarri, “This way please.” He gestured with his hand for her to follow him.

They went to the main deck and across to another wooden doorway. Ducking his head to enter and walking a bit bent as the he was slightly taller than the door and ceiling, Walks-On-Boards led Sarri to a room filled with armor and weapons. Most of the armor was cloth or leather with a few metal pieces here and there. She saw that her armor and weapons had been set off to the side. Knowing the salt water of the sea would diminish her things she inspect it and found that it had been cleaned and polished.
“Someone knows how to care for her gear. She is very grateful. Does Walks-On-Boards know who she should thank? She would like to repay this person if possible.”
“We have an armor smith that works with us. It was probably him.” He explained though seeming to be a bit nervous. “If that is all you need from me, I have work to get back to.”
Sarri smiled at him, “One question before he goes, yes? What town are we docked at in Khenarthi’s Roost and who should she look to first for work?”
“Mistral is the name of the town. As for work, go ask at the Chancery they may know.” Walks-On-Boards answered then quickly turned and left.

Wondering why the Argonian may have been so nervous around her caused her to think that there may be more that he knew but would not say about Sarri. She decided not to push the man as it would come to her in time.

Gathering her gear she headed back to the little cabin to change before leaving the ship and exploring the town.
