Flair
Wears a scratched, well-worn silver wedding band and a silver necklace with a sapphire pendant enchanted to be cold to the touch. She wields no weapons, relying on her magical prowess instead.

Personality
Taliwen, at her core, is a guard. She upholds the laws set before her and does whatever she can to ensure everyone else does as well. She takes a stance of pacifism, refusing to resort to bloodshed if there is a chance for an alternative, though she is not beyond coercion and potentially minor violence. On occasions where violence is the only solution she will not hesitate to act, though she feels deep regret for those she must harm severely, and especially those she must kill, be they beast, man, or mer. The wide variety of effects frost magic grants her have made her a bit cocky in battle, always ready to take on another challenge through her own methods when needed, enjoying a good pacification.
Taliwen speaks her mind, especially on the occasions when she isn't working. She's not afraid to take action and sometimes puts less thought into what she does than she should, though she's not afraid of making herself a target to those she doesn't view as a threat. She has difficulty making genuine friends, and refuses to trust strangers or receive handouts, though she does have a desire to socialize.

Background
Taliwen Sagehollow was raised in a comfortable family by kind and loving parents in a house not far from Elden Root. When Taliwen showed a potential for magic at a young age her parents sought help from an old friend to teach their child. Under her mentor, Taliwen learned the arts of healing, protecting, and immobilizing foes to protect everyone involved, as well as dismantling others' defenses.

As Taliwen came of age her parents encouraged her to marry well by introducing their daughter to skilled boys. Tal did her best to try to please her parents, but she never found herself interested in any of them. Along the way, however, she had built up a healthy rivalry with a local girl, an archer by the name of Eridth Sagespring. The two spent many hours practicing their arts together, be it seeing who could score best on an archery target or who could catch a rat first. Over the years they became the best of friends.

Not long before her 20th spring Taliwen was offered a proposal for marriage by her boyfriend at the time. Her parents were ecstatic and had even played a hand in the event, but Tal simply could not agree. She cared for the boy deeply, but she couldn't say that she loved him. Torn apart by her decision she spent much of that night being consoled by Eridth. A week later the two started their own romance.

When Taliwen was 25 she and Eridth were married by a priest of Mara. Their parents had, with some hesitation, agreed on their daughters' joining, all four ultimately wanting their children to be happy with their lives. The couple changed their names to Sagehollow and subsequently went on holiday to the Gold Coast, where they ended up staying. After working mundane jobs for almost two years Eridth found work with the Kvatch city guard. She put in a good word for her wife after she had earned some rank and not long after Taliwen found herself protecting the streets of Anvil. The two served honorably.

Word reached Anvil that an attack had occurred in Kvatch, leaving two guards dead and a couple more wounded. The man responsible was reported to have been wearing the armor of the Dark Brotherhood. Tal feared the worst and made the trip without hesitation. After arriving she found her fears true. Eridth was dead, killed while off duty. The only possessions found on her were a half-finished love note and an enchanted silver sapphire necklace. Eridth's funeral was short, buried in Imperial fashion.

The Kvatch Guard was unsure what, if any, role the jewelry played in Eridth's death, but the necklace was eventually returned to Taliwen. The chain itself was uninteresting and plain, but the sapphire pendant was cold to the touch. She put it around her neck and has never taken it off since.

Five years passed and Taliwen worked harder than ever protecting the citizens of Anvil. She had refused every significant promotion offered to her, preferring to remain down in the streets and not cooped up in some guard post or transferred to some other locale. One day, a few reports began coming in of another incident of Brotherhood violence directed at the Kvatch guard, and Tal's heart skipped a beat when she was informed. Just a few days later a missing Anvil guard turned up in a vacated house, butchered. Four more incidents occurred in Anvil before Taliwen's fears overcame her. She left a note of resignation on her officer's desk in the morning.

Taliwen purchased a small sailboat from a local resident who had given up fishing and that night she set sail across the waters towards her old home of Valenwood. At first she aimed to return to her parents, but fearing they would be disappointed for abandoning her station she instead settled on the idea of finding someplace quiet to settle down.

After searching the far coast she spotted what looked like a town high up on a cliff above the sea. She shored her boat and took the small trek up around the cliff, freezing solid the carnivorous plants that stood in her way. She stepped foot into the town called Vulkwasten, still dressed in her Anvil battlemage uniform, hoping to find work.
