Character Name: Lathgan Glasseye

Race: Argonian

Age: 30

Sex: Male

Sexual orientation: straight

Marital Status: Unwed

Personality:
Lathgan doesn't follow a traditional moral compass. He is extremely loyal to those who have befriended him and will overlook any flaw so long as he views the individual as a companion. He views the law as something to fallow as long as it doesn't interfere with any task or goal at hand, at that point it is something to carefully weave around. He doesn't particularly enjoy violence but he is no stranger to it.
In social situations he is kind and caring although often ignorant to what's happening around him. Sometimes he is seen talking to no one in particular or laughing at jokes no one has told. He is distracted easily and may end conversations abruptly to study an insect he has never seen before or to look at an ornate marking on a glass or tapestry.

Likes:
-drinking
-tribal and occultic magic (anything dealing with curses and runes)
-insects/reptiles/amphibians
-socializing (he is not the best at it but he likes it)
-helping friends with problems (makes him feel like he is part of something bigger than himself)

Dislikes:
-Law enforcement (sees them as obstacles, doesn't go out of his way to oppose them though)
-dry/cold climates
-managing money
-tasks involving organizing of any sort

History:
(Childhood and Adolescence) Lathgan grew up in the southwestern swamps of Shadowfen where he was raised by his auntie Neealg. Neealg was a swamp witch known throughout the area for her art in runic and glyph magic as well as the creation and removal of curses. She taught her art to Lathgan at a young age and spurned his interest in magic traditions. For the first seventeen years of his life Lathgan remained under her care and guidance often taking Neealg's place for any magical needs of the surrounding tribes and towns when his auntie was away or otherwise unable to do so herself.

(Early Adulthood) Around Lathgan's seventeenth year of age he began to realize he had learned everything his auntie could teach him. It was during this time that his magical aptitude began to blossom and a great yearning to learn and achieve more urged him to experiment with magic on his own. In his own infantile knowledge of magic and the spirit realms he decided to attempt to connect with the spirits of his swampland. He carefully placed a set of runes around him and forced as much magical energy as he could, with himself in the centerfold, into the runes. The result was a massive build up of energy throughout his body that burst through his left eye and left him in shambles. Lathgan spent a year in recovery under his auntie's care. Though his body eventually healed his mind never did. His auntie would sometimes catch him talking to people that were never there or describing events that never took place. His magical abilities seemed to shift as well. Some days he would be able to perform more than was "humanly" possible for his age and skill level where as other days he couldn't muster enough energy to perform a mere lighting spell.

Despite Lathgan's condition his desire to better himself and seek more magical instruction led him to leave his homestead and make something more of himself. He soon set out and eventually joined a traveling orc merchant by the name of Throck. Lathgan would identify and create magical items for Throck and the merchant in turn taught Lathgan about his trade and insight into the world outside of Shadowfen. This relationship continued for a little over a year before Lathgan discovered the mages guild. It was here that Lathgan would spend the next six years of his life struggling to learn everything the guild had to offer as well as trying to maintain some form of control over the magics he could wield.

Eventually Lathgan was "persuaded" to leave the mages guild, in part, because of his interest in more tribal and unsavory magic traditions as well as his odd behavior. The last six years of his life has been spent traveling and collecting as much knowledge of tribal and occult magic as he can. To make ends meet he creates magical items and weaves and disbands curses for those willing to pay.
