Background:
Melody was born and raised in Windhelm by a merchant family. Her father made enough to keep a decent roof over his family but this would never due for her mother. For a nord, Melody’s mother was very stuck up and wished for more material things in life. She always hounded on Melody to be the “proper daughter.” This harassment from her mother caused Melody to start sneaking out of their home to adventure around the city on her own at a young age. Melody’s relationship with her father was good and she treasured any interaction. She did not get to spend a lot of time with him, but when they were together he would render little Melody into fits of giggles every few minutes. Her favorite time was when he was impersonating her mother and teasing about her going to live with the altmer.
When she turned 16, her mother’s resentment seemed to grow towards Melody and she constantly pecked at her to meet with the suitors she picked out. Melody would only scoff at her and quickly find a way to get out of the same room as her. She wondered what caused her mother to be so concerned with material things and marrying her off. After what felt like a month of constant battles with her mother, Melody snuck out of the house for the final time. It broke her heart to leave her father behind but she could not stand being around her mother for another minute. She hid an apology letter to her father in his desk before sneaking out.
For months, Melody lingered around the docks at Windhelm. She hoped that her father would never pass by this area and discover her. Earning coin was challenging for the young nord but she made due with helping to load and unload cargo. She also stole when she did not have enough to get by. Eventually, she stowed away on a ship. The crew threatened to throw her overboard when they found her on the ship. Melody didn’t back down from their threats and promised to work as hard as any of the crew there.
A few years later, Melody wound up in Wrothgar. She quit the crew and explored a few odd jobs here and there thieving. It turned out that she had quite the knack for it. She joined a small group of thieves that were terrorizing the area. With this group, she started to refine her self-defense skills and picked up throwing knives. Melody never took to any weapon larger than the average dagger. With a growing thieving reputation, Melody continued to take on harder jobs. Eventually, Melody happened to be collecting an artifact from a heavily guarded warehouse when Tisya and Lazbak came crashing in. Using force to fight their way to the artifact was not the best plan but it helped Melody to successfully complete her job. Tisya and Lazbak arrived to see Melody blow them a kiss and drop out a window with the artifact. Later, Sena contacted Melody after learning of her reputation and that she beat Tisya and Lazbak in obtaining the artifact. Sena offered her a place on her crew, which she accepted.
Why is your character in Dominion territory? How did they get there?
Melody arrived in Dominion territory when the crew docked in Velyn Harbor with a job in mind. The Captain was looking at hiring locals to help with the latest job. The job was a success and Melody will often visit Vulkwasten when docked at Velyn, although she may complain about it the whole time.
