Amres towers over those around him at over seven feet tall, his face is usually covered by a mask, all that can be seen of his features are his cold golden eyes and a hint of bronzed skin. His robes are of the finest quality and have golden or silver threads, the picture of a noble Altmer male. When he moves it is graceful and fluid, the muscles rippling under the cloth with ease. His robes have a flowering tree on them, either on the chest or back. He carries a staff or two matched swords at his sides in ornate scabbards.
Flairs:
There are many rings on his large hands of various colors, red, blue, gold. There is one that stands out however due to its size, it is his signet ring, it is a flowering tree with a flame in the foreground.
Personality:
Amres rarely speaks, preferring to let his daughter Stella do the talking. He likes to use his greater height and silence to intimidate and make others uncomfortable for his own amusement. He is cold, distant, and typically speaks half-truths. He has moments where he is friendly enough, going so far as to giving other people gifts, or offering to do favors for free. He is abrupt and seemingly harsh and hard to deal with at times, but most put up with him due to his skills in the magical arts. It always helps to have a strong magus around. Most of his time is spent at his Estate in the Summerset Isles, managing his lands and doing experiments, so he doesn’t get out much.
Why is your character in Dominion territory? How did they get here?:
He is the head of House Avathar, a minor Altmer house in the Dominion. He rarely ventures into the other Alliance territories, unlike his daughter who wanders into the other areas from time to time. Usually Stella drags him around unwillingly with her to different taverns and bars so he can get some interaction with something other than his books.
Background:
(This is not the full story, just a short summary)
Amres is the eldest son of his family, after falling in love with one of their Bosmer slaves and marrying her in secret, he was cast out and disowned when his Father found out the truth. As punishment, he was sent away to the Mages Guild for many years, unable to even send a letter to his young wife. The woman was not treated well in his absence, thought nothing better than dirt. Eventually he returned and was welcomed back, his title as Heir reinstated and recorded, after ‘recanting’ his marriage. Unfortunately, a tragedy took place when a spell went wrong and killed his entire family as well as their guests soon after he returned. His father was known to try crazy experiments with magic, it is thought that this occurred when he was showing off a trick at the party they were holding at the time. Amres survived but his wife did not, she is presumed dead. In a last promise to his wife, he took her sister under his protection and raised her on his own as his daughter. When she was of age he formally adopted Stella, and named her his Heir, giving her the title of minor noblewoman. This was frowned upon by the other nobles at the time, for not only had he been married to a Bosmer, he adopted one as his daughter. This was utterly scandalous, and mixed with the suspicious death of his family, he was shunned by the other Houses as a result. Few other major or minor Altmer Houses recognize his title or lands to this day, preferring to pretend House Avathar does not exist, but to the Dominion he is a nobleman with landholdings and given all the proper rights and respect due to his position and title.
While he was raising his daughter, he turned to the Divines to help heal his grief and pain, and became a Priest in their temples. He is known to be a very devout follower who frowns on Necromancy and hates things related to the Daedra.
His family lands, including a village outside of the walls of his Estate, are well kept and run at the peak of efficiency. His townsfolk are a simple people, fishing and farming, with minor craft halls. They view Lord Amres as a fair and just governor, giving food to the hungry and coin to the poor, even presiding over deaths and marriages when asked. His daughter is loved by all the townsfolk and those living outside it, they hug her openly in the street and give her gifts, happy in the thought that one day she will be looking after their lands. While there are some odd sounds and sights coming from their walled Estate at times, and strangers entering and not returning, the folk look on the Avathar family with love and adoration and trust them completely.
