Why is your character in Dominion territory? How did they get here?
Thea is currently traveling with her teacher, Amres Avathar, and his daughter, her friend, Stella Nightstrider. They arrived via ship.
Background:
Dorathea, or Thea as her friends call her, was born in Northpointe to Sir Johnathan and Lady Hyacinth Navarre. She was raised as a beloved only child, though she was never spoiled. She had a modest upbringing and proved to be an intelligent, bright, and precocious little girl. She was tested and proved quite adept at magic, the casting of spell webs in particular, and not just in elemental magic. At age eleven she was sent off to the Mages Guild where she began her formal tutelage. She excelled in all of her classes and surpassed all expectations of her, though she did not mingle much with the other students. She was friendly enough, she simply paid more attention to her studies than to things like boys or gossip. She was able to maintain a balance, paying just enough attention to extra-curricular activities, and was never ostracized or treated ill due to her success. At sixteen she graduated at the top of her class and returned home. Upon her arrival, she found that her mother had recently passed away due to illness and her father had fallen to drink. She did what she could for him and made his life as comfortable as possible, but a week later he hung himself, unable to bear the loss of his wife. Selling everything except what she needed, she set out to find her way in the world.
On the battlefield was where she found herself, embroiled in one conflict after another, she learned battlefield tactics, triage, elemental application, and most importantly, how to win. It was here that she met one Sir Rook Dathromir. In him, she found the father that she had lost. Rook took her in and soon adopted her where she quickly rose to the position of Captain and took control of Sir Rook's personal guard. She allowed herself to be bitten by her father in order to obtain the "gift" of lycanthropy, something she never actually wanted, yet did so to please her father. It was soon after that Thea met Stella and Amres and sought out Amres to take her on as his apprentice. A few years later, a distant cousin asked for Rooks aid in a family affair and the entire household moved to the Dathromir estate. Unfortunately, a pair of snobbish and incestual cousins, children of the Baron Regent, were given far more control of the family than they should have had and the two brought about the downfall of the now Lord Rook. Amres resigned his position as House Mage and returned to his family home, taking Stella with him. By this time, Thea was now Amres's apprentice, but was still Captain of the guard. With Lord Rook's departure, he ordered Thea to stay with Amres. Feeling betrayed, and not understanding why her father had sent her away, she did as he asked. Saddened and frustrated, she threw herself once again into her studies. Under Amres's tutelage, Thea's ability in the arcane has grown in leaps and bounds. Now able to spellweave in moments what used to take hours. She is still grievously hurting from both her parents passing and from what she considers her betrayal by her adopted father, though outwardly she still presents as unfazed and happy. She looks at the future not knowing where it will lead, yet hoping to help bring light to the darkness.
