This week, Elsy Nightwind (or @Sweet_Role_Thief in ESO) is stepping down as Guild Master to Blue Skooma and passing the reigns, after an amazing run of over two years. Here are her partings words from the position for everyone in the guild:

After 2 years and 3 months of being GM of this guild, I’m stepping down. It’s been a lot of stress but a lot of fun, and I’m happy to have helped foster the community and help it grow. I see a lot of potential in the guild—that was something it didn’t have when I became GM. There were only 7 active members, 4 of which were officers. Now, there’s over 25 active members and 8 officers (not including myself). We did two events a week when I first started, and there was hardly any casual RP. Now, there’s RP every night, and we have events 4–6 times a week.

The best part about having been GM was not the RP or the IC stories we participated in and told together, although those were so much fun and moved me to laughter a lot (with the occasional tears). For me, it was all of the friends and connections that I made. You all were always what was most important to me. What I always dreamed of for BSR was, above all, for it to be a guild that was filled with great, supportive people. I wanted it to be a family—a place people could come home to and feel welcomed and respected in, and just relax and have fun in. Somehow, I got really lucky, because that’s largely what happened. I mean, it got to the point where even some of you started calling me mom (jokingly, but, the sentiment was there).

So, I just want to thank everyone for that. From people who have been around since the first year of launch before I was GM, to the people who just joined, thank you for contributing and continuing to contribute to a community that’s unlike any other online one I’ve experienced. To the people going above and beyond to lead factions and events and foster RP, to the people who are in RP with the guild (be it via event or casual RP) every day or every week or even just once every few months because that’s all the time you can give, to the people who chat in Discord or guild chat everyday and post and participate on the website, thank you.

And to every officer I’ve had in those 2 years and 3 months, thank you for believing in me and the guild enough to give up so much of your valuable time and energy to run everything, settle disputes, update things, and so many other things that I can’t even think of all of them. It would have been utterly impossible without all of you, and I hope BSR has given back to you as much as I felt it has to me.

I’ll still be around, and you guys can message me privately if you ever feel like you just want/need to talk to someone, be it about something stupid or something you’re struggling with. If you want to RP with any of my characters, even if you’ve never met them, just poke me in private message and we can set up a time or do the RP in private messages. I’m looking forward to what the guild can continue to grown into, and I know you guys can continue to foster the wonderful community that has been BSR all these years.

Thank you for running this guild, and building it into one of the most successful Elder Scrolls Online role playing guilds in the community today! May you find the best of luck and success in where you go next, and hope to continue seeing you in game!

And on that note, please welcome Kashya Vulano (@Vulano) as the new Guild Master! May he continue to build and refine our community, and perhaps one day pay me for writing these newsletters! I mean a guy's gotta get food somehow I can only eat ramen noodles so many times it'd be kind of nice to be let out of this closet once in a while it's sort of stuffy in here...
