The Mages Guild

IC Leader: Elandra Endove
OOC Leader: @Epitokos

The Mages Guild is home to the brightest scholars, and most talented mages across all of Nirn. Their purpose is to gather knowledge on their world, and distribute it for all the people that inhabit it. While they are home to many mages, the arcane is only a small portion of their focus.

How does the ranking system work?

Spoiler
The basis for all of this is individual character development, so all the ranks will be based off that. Each branch will have a theme for ranking up, and you can get an idea of what you need to do off the description of the ranks. Each rank will require a few tasks to complete. These will be major and minor tasks, depending on the ranks.

There is no limit to how fast you can go. If you put effort into advancing your character, and progress through assigned tasks, you can rank up quickly.

Tasks can either be rped out In game, through discord rp, or through a story written out on the forums. I will work with each individual when it comes to these tasks, and they will all be unique as possible. There will also be random events, and chance of failure for each encounter. This is something we will work out OOC, so that way the story can go smoother.

The ranks don’t mean anything out of character, and are simply there to offer a way to show character development
.

IC rules that you should be aware of:
Spoiler

The Mages guild will not tolerate the belittlement, or mistreatment of its members, or others inside the town. Members caught harassing another will be subject to demotion depending on the severity.

Taking inventory or artifacts will result in banishment, and a report to the local guard. Please report to the magister, and she will sort out your resource needs.

Practicing Destruction magic while inside the hall, or other structures of Vulkwasten will result in a temporary expulsion of magical training. We need to honor the green-pact, and not destroy their homes.

Tampering with tomes and scrolls not assigned to you will result in re-writing those books under the watch of a Scholar. Knowledge is sacred, do not harm it.

Recruitment:

If you’re interested in bringing your character into the mages guild, please contact Elandra Endove. She will either be in the Tall Trunk Tavern, or the Mages Hall. ((Contact @kcreble and he will make sure she is there.))

Any questions? Please whisper @kcreble, or message CrimsonFurry#3496 on discord.

The Mages guild consists of many branching paths, and many different ranks. The first two ranks all share the same title, and similar responsibilities. While the heads of each branch carry many more responsibilities. Below is the list.

Scholar:

Spoiler
Apprentice: The Apprentice is the lowest rank of Scholar. Their duties include caring for the library, organizing books, taking inventory of new books, and various other low responsibility jobs.

Adept: Their task is to study new books, and decide what category they would fall under. Some books need translated, the Adept would be tasked with doing this.

Lead Historian: The Lead historian oversees most of the day to day inside the scholar branch. Their job is to gather the knowledge of the books and scrolls given to the chapter, and then report those findings to the Farseer.

Farseer: The most important rank of the Scholar branch. The Farseer is in charge or deciding whether to transport gathered knowledge and artifacts to the bigger branches of the mages guild, or to keep them inside Vulkwasten for protection.

Mage:

Spoiler
Apprentice: The Apprentice is the lowest rank of the Mages. Their task is studying and learning about Magicka, and the arcane flows of Nirn. At this rank, mages should have somewhat of Magical potential, but also don’t know much. Here is where you learn which magical school you want to focus in.

Adept: The first rank that starts to specialize in a magical school. Members at this rank might follow their name with their branch of choice. Destruction Adept, as an example. This rank is tasked with mastering their chosen school.

Wizard: Once the mage has mastered their magical school, they are moved here. They will continue their research of their chosen school, and other schools.. This is the first rank to be assigned to assist other branches, and other guilds. While lower ranks may be sent on some tasks, a Wizard will be the first choice.

Senior-Enchanter: Members of this rank have proven their knowledge in the arcane, and have shown competency in trying situations. This rank is tasked with bigger jobs, ones that require a delicate touch, and even more knowledge. They are also expected to help teach underlings in their primary school, and help Apprentices understand the arcane.

Researcher:

Spoiler
Apprentice: This rank is tasked with checking on the ongoing experiments, and keeping track of on going notes.

Adept: This is the first rank to start being assigned research goals. Members at this rank will be charged with studying their assigned research goals, and assisting higher ranks with bigger goals.

Senior Researcher: Members at this rank have proven their skills through completed research goals. This rank is also in charge of overlooking the smaller research projects. Lower ranks should seek this rank out for advice.

Principal Investigator: This rank is assigned to overlook all research projects. They should be looked to for guidance, and as the person to talk to to get more resources for current projects. On top of that, they are the first person the Magister comes to with new leads, and they will be tasked with assigning those out.

Explorer:

Spoiler
Apprentice: An Apprentice Explorer is tasked with following higher ranks on delves, and relic and artifact reclaiming. They usually are tasked with carrying the gear, and holding the map.

Adept: An Adept Explorer might be tasked with retrieving artifacts on their own, or helping a group from other factions.

Seeker: This is the most important rank of the Explorers. They are tasked with leading other faction groups, and members of the mages guild in recovering artifacts and tomes.

Captain: Captains are charged with teaching other members of this branch with proper recovery. They should be skilled in magic, or combat, and have successfully recovered a number of artifacts.
