If you were around during the "Heal the Heart Tree" event, in which the Mages Guild worked to rid the Heart Tree of the mysterious blue essence killing the trees, your character is very likely to be infected with an illness. This is completely up to player choice, but having as many people sick as possible will definitely make the disease more of a plague-type scenario that we're going for, instead of a common cold going around.
Characters that were not present when the spell was purged can also become infected from contact with the afflicted who have shown signs of being sick. This disease is magical in nature, and can therefore affect all types of supernatural characters. Any characters that accept becoming afflicted by the sickness will progress from someone suffering from allergies in the springtime to someone suffering from a powerful mixture of any of the following non-fatal IG diseases:
Astral Vapors
A magical disease which circumvents resistance. Symptoms include stunted and damaged magicka reserves.
Ataxia
Ataxia is a mild common disease affecting the victim's strength and dexterity. Symptoms include generalized pain, muscle stiffness and paleness.
Chills
Chills is an extremely dangerous common disease affecting the victim's mind and coordination. Symptoms include clumsiness and mental confusion.
Feeble Limb
Victims of Feeble Limb suffer from loss of strength.
Helljoint
Helljoint is a mild common disease affecting a victim's mobility and dexterity. Symptoms include persistent irritation and inflammation of joints.
Rust Chancre

Witbane
Witbane is an acute common disease affecting a victim's memory, thought processes and ability to regenerate magicka. Symptoms include loss of memory and disorientation.
Wither
Wither is a mild common disease that affects the victim's strength and endurance. Symptoms include loss of energy and shortness of breath.
