He'd sigh, laying the journal down. His entry finished for the night, he'd curl into his bear. Resting his head on her side, staying mostly alert... Though it wasn't long before he'd start to actually to drift to sleep. His mind was plagued by dreams once he was actually asleep. A mashing of both good dreams.. and not so good. Once he was completely out, Anuk would lay her head against his hip. Resting just lightly against Yeo.

In the trees however, there was movement. One could chalk it up to the wind.. If they didn't know any better. A single archer moved through the branches, getting into position. Though he was far from alone. Clothed all in black, and hidden far up, he'd be hard to spot. On the ground, others moved.. These were the remnants of a clan long since dead.. The Shadows.

They'd... set upon the sleeping elf and his two sleeping companions.. A fight would soon erupt. Setting an amnush upon a person resting, was too easy. They attacked.. Their attack would wake the sleeping trio. Anuk would be the first one to respond. The lumbering giant would stand roughly, causing Gloo to smack roughly into the ground. A groan left him as his already wounded side smacked into the dirt. Yeo would yip in surprise. The bear would go for the closest attacker.. That being a male with a dagger. She'd bite into his arm, jerking him forward.

A hail storm of arrows were released when the bear attacked. Pelting the bear in them. Arrows would get stuck in her shoulders, back, and hind quarters.... While Anuk fought, Yeo would be launching herself to bite into one of the other attackers and Gloo would be climbing to his feet to fight back..

The fight would drag on.. Injuries dished out.. Some minor, others not so much. The worst would be two stab wounds to Gloo's sides. One just under the busted rib from the troll, the other on the other side of his body, just missing a lung. He'd survive it.. But recovery would take time once he got out of this mess. Three would die to Gloo's blades, though he was bleeding badly.. It made focusing.. difficult.

He'd take a punch to the gut, crumpling to the ground. Everything would go blurry as he tried to keep his eyes open. Slowly losing the battle. The last thing he'd see was movement from the corner of his eye... Something... someone.. near the tree line to the clearing. His gaze shifted back to the one that stood in front of him.. A sword held just slightly above his head..

Another arrow cut through the night air, aimed for a distracted, badly wounded Gloo this time. Rather than the bear or the dog. That's when the figure in at the edge of the forest made their move. He was a small man. Covered head to toe in black, dark green and brown leathers. A shield held at the ready, and a crimson blade drawn. He'd charge forward, kneeling behind the shield, the arrow hitting the shield.

Gloo would pass out after that.. The last thing he'd see would be the hooded stranger, coming to his aid..

In truth, Callio being there now, was pure dumb luck. He had been going to Velyn Harbor, as that's where he had been told he could find the person he was in search of. Finding Gloo.. finding his brother.. in this losing battle, was not something he had expected.

Above, the archer would fall from the tree, having miss-placed his footing. Callio would take this chance to grab a blade from one of those already dead and whip it at the form that had fallen. Before turning his gaze on what remained. The fight was short after that.. Just cleaning up three others..

When the battle was over, Callio would kneel over one of those that had attacked.. His plan was to question one of them. Find out why there was such a big fight here. But the guy was out cold. And bleeding out. He'd frown, standing and moving over to his brother. He'd kneel over his brother now.. A hand touching his face, as a deep frown took over his own.

"Just.. how many people have you pissed off, ass?"

He'd stand, a sharp whistle given. From the treeline, the form of a white and gray dire wolf would pad into view. A black, white and gray dog with a spiked collar, trailing lazily behind him. Callio would close the distance between them, giving a soft click. A signal for the wolf to stop moving. From here, he'd get one of his packs from the wolf's side and move back to his brother, kneeling back down. He'd begin to attempt to treat his wounds.. Though some of them.. there wasn't much he could do. At best, he could just bandage them. He was no healer. Wasn't even a doctor.

When he finished, he'd stand move to the bear. She wasn't too banged up, but was still wounded. And the dog... She had a busted front leg, and a gash to her hind quarters.. He'd do what he could for the bear, before bandaging the dog up. The dog was gently set down before he'd rip any cloth or leathers he could from the corpses around the camp. He'd set to making a sling, attaching it to his own dog, when he was done. The little dog would be placed inside the sling. He'd turn his gaze on the bear.

"I hope you can you walk, there's no way I can carry you.."

He'd sigh, pulling free a canteen. He'd get a drink from it, capping it and putting it away. The mask was pulled back up into place before he'd turn to his brother, scooping him up. Moving him would gain a groan of pain from the unconcious form. Anuk would stand and move up, to which he'd shake his head.

"You had arrows in your back side. If anyone's carrying him, it's him."

He'd move over, placing the unconcious form over the back of the wolf.. Just.. kind of draping him there. With that, he'd move around, freeing an old and rather worn out blanket from his own camping supplies, draping it over the draped elf. The bleeding wasn't entirely stopped, but it was slowed.. Though Callio also didn't want to linger.. He'd move to his brother's pack, rummaging until he found a journal.. He'd start to thumb through it. Not because he wanted to learn his brother's secrets.. Hardly. He was looking to see if there were any mention of where his brother might have been headed.

He'd stop at the final entry, skimming quickly. When he found the word 'Vulkwasten', he'd close the book and put it away. He didn't know his way there. But he also believed it shouldn't be hard to find it. He was sure of that. He'd gather up his brother's belongings and attach them to Anuk.

"You're not carrying him.. But you can carry his things.. Less of a burden."

He'd start to lead them away after that. A map produced from his pocket as he walked.. He was looking for the town. When he found it, he'd murmur 'not too far off, I don't think...' before rolling it up and stuffing it back in his pocket. It was good to know.. If he followed the paths he seen, he'd be there by tomorrow. He guessed it would have been sooner than that, but with the injured.... Rest stops would need to be made. Stops to check injuries and the like. Though he also wasn't good at guessing time frames either...

"Get there when we get there..."

It was spoken mostly to himself.. Though he was also slightly talking to the mounts. He wanted to set up camp before this mess.. Rest himself. But, with the situation, he felt it best to just press on.
