Hi, all. I'm Matt (@AtomicBarbarian). I play Matheson Hawke (I know, I really went out on a limb naming my character) and I joined this guild mere hours ago after meeting one of the members by chance in Vulkwasten and striking up some random RP.
First of all I wanted to thank you guys for accepting me and express how impressed I am by what I've seen of the community here on this forum. I'm really honored to be given a chance to join in and am looking forward to RPing with each and every one of you.
About me, I'm a Texan in my late 30's who has been RPing basically my whole life. Formally I guess it started with the black and red basic Dungeons and Dragons boxed set I got in the mid 90's but before then I was always making up personalities and scenarios for action figures and drawings and whatnot. I guess I've always been obsessed with playing pretend.
My first MMO was Ultima Online, which I played on my blazing fast 486 Gateway computer I bought from my first job as a telephone operator. That whole sentence was archaic and 90's and I don't think they even have telephone operators anymore. After that I jumped ship to Everquest which I played for nearly seven years alongside Everquest 2 when that came out. Once my beloved heavy RP guild gradually moved its focus to raiding, I moved my focus to City of Heroes where I RP'd as Lonestar who was basically Superman if he were a Texan. Alongside that I played Age of Conan once that came out and, after CoH shut down, it became my sole MMO.
I never played WoW. I don't look down on it or anything, I was just always entertained by other things. I wish I had, though, as it seems to be a common thread most RPers have and when they're all reminiscing about that game I don't have anything to add.
Inbetween those games I played a smattering of other MMOs, though those were the main ones. I also played a lot of the original Neverwinter Nights on various RP servers.
As for tabletop RP I was big into DnD with the Dragonlance setting as well as Birthright. When 3.0 and 3.5 came out I moved over to the D20 Conan RPG published by Mongoose. Shadowrun, Rifts, and Mutants and Masterminds are also RPGs I played and enjoyed.
Like many of you I'm sure, I'm also a pretty big geek and am into comics and genre movies and shows. Star Wars, Trek, Game of Thrones, Vikings, Lord of the Rings, yadda yadda you know the stuff.
Oh! I also have a crazy breadth of knowledge when it comes to 80's music. My favorite ice cream flavor is cheesecake which is, coincidentally, also my favorite cake. If they made a cheesecake pie that would be my favorite pie. I just like cheesecake, okay?
