Scattered around Kashya's desk lies a collection of things. A werewolf skull, a few oranges, and several stacks of papers, each finely labeled by ink on the table. Unlabeled, however, lies a collection of scattered notes, folded parchment, and other items that seemingly have yet to find a home.

((Unlike Kashya's Private Journal, these notes are simply placed on Kashya's desk, and can be read at will.))

A folded letter lies on the table; the handwriting isn't that of Kashya's.

Kashya,

Now that seemingly okay people are in the guard, and I have you back in the force, it is time to finally get things done.

I am going to do orientation or training? In the next week. Probably Middas or Loredas. Just to make sure new people are aware of what to expect.

Maybe get new armor too. I grow tired of what we have. I can make better stuff now. We should see to it.

I will see about this siege or thing Fighters are dealing with. Daedric forces from last week might come back. Not good.

Good to start organizing again. Make guard good again. We will have good times, yes?

Just do not start drinking again

Two separate notes lie on the desk.

Kashya,

Im not a good writer but Ill try to do my best to make this clear in writing because I cannot seem to catch you awake. Lilinunta is not in good shape, I need you to come back to Marbruk as soon as possible. She is not in a good way.

Renma

Wraesha,

I stuck my neck out for you; please, do not let me down. I am not doing this because I favor you. I barely know you. You have convinced me that all people—or at least, most—are capable of cleaning themselves up, however. I have that faith in you. If you do not pull through, however, I will have to resort to the less favorable decision we discussed.

Take care.

A note lies on the desk; it seems to be crumpled, but still instact.

Seriduril,

I have noticed your recent bouts with Estre, and while I do not usually attempt to swim into human interaction, I find myself at a loss. A gain? No, a loss. Anyhow. While I don't wish to simply force myself between you two, I find myself worrying about you, as I would a friend. While you may not need me, I will be around should you need any adv

This fucking shit is dumb

<The lower half of the folded note is spattered with tiny globs of ink, causing it to stick together, creased before it could dry properly.>

Kashya -

I would appreciate the company.

Lucrezia drags in two large crates of....oranges! The scrawny bosmer struggled to bring them into the office and left them at Kashya's desk. At least, what she believed to be Kashya's desk since she'd only been in the office once before. She rummaged through a lot of papers, trying to find a plain one to write a note on, but got distracted by something she found.

About thirty minutes later, she finally remembered to write the note to her friend and set it on the desk. One of the crates were open and there were a few forgotten about orange peelings on the floor near one of the beds.

Kashya-

I don't know how on Nirn I messed up this order but they delivered TWO MORE CRATES!
TAKE THEM!
ENJOY THEM!
I NEVER WANT TO SEE ANOTHER ORANGE AGAIN!

-Lu

PS- I ate a few of them.
Also- We should talk soon.

A new werewolf skull has been placed on the Marshal's desk; a small, silver ingot lies in front of it, with a name decoratively etched into it. The name on the ingot reads, "FENAS."

Kashya -

I spoke with Wren. Apparently Theo will be away for an undetermined amount of time, to Cyrodiil.

As an aside, I've been told I need to undergo surgery for my jaw. I don't fully know what that entails, but apparently I would be out for a few days. Do you know of any way around that?

This note is folded neatly twice and hidden beneath the werewolf skull on the desk.

Dated 7/23
I'm Major, now. Acting Marshal, I assume, but we'll stick with 'Major'. I wanted the position, but not like this. I'm not sure how I feel about it. There's a lot I wish I could've said.

Come back soon. There are people that care about you, here.

And you took the keys with you. I need those. Or duplicates. How am I supposed to get new guards recruited if I can't get the shackles to them? I'll figure it out.

You left me in this position, so I'm going to do my damndest for you. I'm sorry I couldn't do more than that, before this.

Be safe, Kashya.

You mean a lot to me.

Seriduril

A tattered, folded note lies on Kashya's desk.

Kashya,

I know what you're doing. I saw the things you have in your chest. Yeah I was nosy. Bite me. I don't want you near me or Lili until you get that shit sorted out. The last thing you need to do is leave town, because if you do, I know you're gonna go back to that lifestyle. Have you even been in town, or have you just been sitting at home drinking and plotting more of those endeavors? There are bottles and notes everywhere. I can't even get in this place without being struck by the pungent smell of liquor.

Just for your sake, I won't go into any more detail until we meet again. I'll be in Marbruk, with Lili. Don't even try to come here if all you're gonna do is try and justify yourself.

A note left open on the table in the guard hall:

Ter's cuffed to the cells, I didn't wanna put him in the same cell as Afer or Wraesha & Benny. I left his wolf with him just in case cause this town's crazy. His stuff's in the barracks. Not filing a report cause that's pointless. I'll explain the other shite tonight.

All personal notes, as well as the werewolf skull and plaque, have been stripped from the desk. The only remaining items are Guard reports, and a note alongside it, folded at the center. "SERIDURIL" is written on the face of the note.

I am taking my leave. I will leave the manual, accompanied by the reports, here for utilization. Time with other endeavors has given me a distinct inability to work within the Guard; since you are considerably more enthusiastic and have been more up to par with the task in recent, I'm falling that position onto you. I will be at my home, should you need me. It is a bit Northwest of Tanglehaven, following the road. You should not need me.

If you did not want the position, then I apologize. However, I cannot bear to stay here any longer than I have to. I am thinking of moving back to Auridon. Away from the collective, and away from judgmental eyes. This town is cursed; it will eventually consume all of us, I think, but I have had my share of protecting people who want to constantly play hero, and I don't wish to die in this century. Unfortunately, fate or whatever gods awful abomination will undoubtedly lead me back here.

As a last order, do not put the position of Major onto Wren unless she requests desire for it. You and I both know that she does not want that responsibility; it could cause her to flee even faster than I did. Do what I did, and wait a month or two before designating one, if you even do. A major is not necessarily required for Guard work.

If I am not at home, I will be at Bethany's home.

Kashya.

Another note lies on the desk, next to this one, also folded at the center. "WREN" is written on the face of the note.

I would like to apologize. For my reactions, and my temperament. It was not in my list of goals to harm you, and I do apologize if I did, last night, given how defensively I reacted to the confrontation. Although I do not like Seriduril, he is not the reason why I left. He is a fair excuse, but the simple fact of the matter is that I do not want to be here. This place is not Auridon, and it is not the home I wish for. Guard work in a small village will not earn me innumerable amounts of wealth, nor will it lead me to do 'glorious things.' It is an ungrateful line of work, and while I did enjoy it at one time, that time has since passed.

As a last order, I have told Seriduril not to put the position of Major onto you. I hope he will listen, but if he does not, then you should not comply. This is not something you would want; I do know that you understand that. A Major is not automatically chosen as one Marshal leaves; you, and Seriduril, should both know that. It is given to anyone showing a complex of persistent work and dedication, and does not require that person to be of high rank. Furthermore, a Major is not required to run a Guard. You may recall my decision to not choose a Major for months following my rise in rank. This is why.

I will be at home, should you require me. I am Northwest of Tanglehaven, following the road. If I am not at home, then I will likely be at Bethany's home, tending to Thorn. I am quite certain that is him, but I would still like Amelie or someone to run an additional test to confirm this, if only to make Seriduril and the others content. If you see Amelie, please tell her to take precautions and avoid the right side of him; he is blind in the right eye, and may not respond well to an approach from that direction, as his time in the Deadlands have made him rather jumpy, as expected. If Amelie runs successful tests, I would request a healer be brought in to look at one of his legs; standing on it for too long seems to strain him, although I haven't directly asked him.

Actually...perhaps just bring a full-time healer in. There are perhaps too many things wrong with him than will fit on this page.

Kashya.

Marshal,

I have secured Rasad in the left of the cells as of this night of the twenty-fifth of the Last Seed. He somehow was able to get out of the clinic despite wards and all other precautions. Terrance and Sadri may have been involved but they claim innocence. They went up the clinic ramp as I worked in the tavern. I suggested to Gilyn to seek them out and that was when he walked into Rasad and the pair. Corporal Gilyn may corroborate this story.

Regardless, he is secured there pending further discussion of how he might be properly secured for further healing and/or investigation.

As there was no crime committed, no case shall be submitted.

On the desk would be a single note....it would sort of smell a bit like fruit cake.

Marshal Seri,

A new villager, a mer named Thaleg, has expressed great enthusiasm in joining the ranks of the guard. While his eagerness is clear to me sir, I must stress he has only been in the village for four days. Nonetheless, I am passing this to you.

Signed,
Sergeant-Major Fedris

Sergeant-Major Fedris -

I should be back in town on Morndas. Please have him seek me out and speak with me then. If you could, please get to know him in the meantime. I would prefer to know him, myself, though I would like to try filling in our ranks, so I ask for your judgement on this matter.

Dear Marshal,

A khajiit by the name of Nisaba sought employ and requested to know if the guard paid. After she mentioned she was a bard and could play several instruments, I advised her to seek out Lady Usil Rosewood of the Rose Garden. However, I wished to advise you of this interest, in the occurrence you may wish to seek this woman out.

Dear Marshal,

Ali has my authority to remove Wren from the cells pending his clearance of her being clean to serve her sentence. However, Wren refused removal and remains in the warded cell. In addition, Wraesha approached Wren moments before my arrival after m'lady Vulano grew boisterous. 'Tis my understanding that you wished Wraesha or Wren charged with harrassment if either attempted to contact the other without a guard present.

Wraesha did read a copy of the writ on the board in the Guard Hall, given to her by Initiate Reliza on my request when she requested the warrant prior to taking this action and admitted to understanding this.

I arrested her not. I take responsibility if she were to be arrested. With Wren and m'lady Vulano in the cells as 'tis, I am uncertain there was a wise place to even incarcerate her.

Also, there is a matter I must speak to you about regarding the town in general, whenever you are available.

Another note has been added

'Dated Hearth Fire 19

Wren Nightdale has been permitted back into the Guard and given the rank of Sergeant-Major with her history and continued efforts in mind. Any questions, comments, or concerns regarding the matter should be directed to Marshal Seriduril; any attempts to push for answers beyond Wren's willingness in this regard will be treated as harassment.

A letter is left on the Marshal's desk in the dead of night. Its penmanship, at least to the Marshal himself if not also some of the guards at least, would clearly be in a certain Amaethaera's handwriting. The writing is florid, meticulous and elegant enough to perhaps make a substandard altmer at least mildly appreciate it. Yet, some of the ink is smudged, particularly on the words of the last paragraph. It is all still very much her handwriting, though.

"Dear Marshall Seriduril, Sergeant-Major Fedris, Corporal Gilyn, Initiate Reliza, and Secretary Fire-in-Shadows,

I am alive.

I am as well as may be prayed for.

I was informed that the other slaves that came from Vulkwasten, Storm-Claw included, were retrieved. This relieves me greatly. I was freed by Terrance who somehow was working with the leader of the Fifty Winds Plantation enough to be able to whisk me away. He never harmed me. He tried to save me from my own despair. He told me of the others being saved. I know not how he did it, in truth, but he did.

I know not how Sadri lost his arm, but he was a slave in his own mind. He was not the serjo of the plantation. The entity in him, Orion, was. This entity possessed Sadri the day before I was caught and continues to now. Please, I know many of the town may be prone to acts of passion and violence, but I beg you to harm him not. He is as innocent as E.

I was captured by a dunmer named Maddren in the tavern. I had disarmed him of his paralysis poison needle, but he had a second and it even went through my leathers. The Inspector came running as I managed to scream for aid before all went black. He is young, almost a boy, and has very short, nearly shorn dark hair. Underestimate him not, please, I beg of you. He is the same one who captured me before. He sold V and I to "Sadri" for seventy-five thousand gold if memory serves, but then remained in the capacity of foreman and visited horrors upon us the very text of which my tears will smudge the ink of if I dare put them to quill.

Please seek me not for now as I will return to Vulkwasten tomorrow. I pray you may forgive me, but I am exhausted and have need of rest. I am in a safe place and getting much needed rest. Distribute this information as you see fit, or do not.

In addition to all of this information, I send this to advise you all of something.

I am no longer able to serve as a guard to you nor Vulkwasten, after being captured twice. I must resign my post in the guard. I simply wish you to understand this clearly in the chance that I lose my nerve when we should see one another in person. I have very little nerve now. If you wish to speak of it, we may, but I absolutely must do this. I will be unable to find a place to rest at night if I do not.

Warmly,
Amaethaera, Corporal of the Vulkwasten Town Guard"

"Incident on the night of Sundas, the first of Frost Fall, regarding the lung puncture of Wraesha. There are a few items during this that I must bring to your attention:

- Rax entered tavern carrying Wraesha in his arms, she bleeding and unconscious.
- Believe Estre and I were immediately on scene. Uncertain.
- Got them upstairs above the tavern using the ramp. Set her down on the floor.
- Informed Estre she had command of the healing as I had need of being both guard and healer in this, and she was the more experienced of us.
- Attempted to keep Initiate Olkar upon the entrance to the landing with the sole job of ensuring none who are healers not affect the emergency.
- Twice or thrice had to remind him, and even get curt and terse saying merely his name and "door".
- Ma'Sura somehow was in with us. Know not if 'twas before or after having Olkar manage door.
- She and Rax were extremely uncooperative, would not remain silent after multiple progressively terser requests from either of Estre and I, repeatedly berated the attempts of us.
- Commanded them both to leave the location, but neither would.
- Ma'Sura at first claiming she could climb not the ladder but eventually did.
- Rax flat out refused and threatened to draw blade on me if I attempted to move him.
- Given in that moment I was keeping Wraesha's lung in as close to one piece as one may, I relented.

I request that we have some sort of official procedure in regards to those who are neither guard nor healer during medical emergencies and clear communication to those who are neither as well. No arrests or anything were made.
