Physical Description
Larenia is short, even among her Bosmer peers. She has orange-green eyes with dark brown hair, always tied back in varying styles to keep her hair from her face. Sprawled across her shoulders, upper arms, and chest are traditional roots, tattooed as reminder to a tie to the Valenwood. Larenia often wears armor crafted by her own hand, or that found through exploration and travels. Most of her clothing reflects dark colors such as green, black, or brown, however, she can be found on certain occasion trying to make an impression by sporting bright colors, contrary to her Bosmer instincts. Unlike most those who are versed in the art of Magicka, she never wears a robe. Though she is skilled in the art of duel swordsmanship, she has adapted to carrying a staff, for times of healing and times of defense. Hanging from her ears, always, are a pair of blue earrings given to her by her mother.
Personality
Larenia is young, but far from naïve in her perceptions of the world. She often likes to assume everyone is good until she sees otherwise, however, her time with the wood orcs taught her to be defensive of herself and others. Her wood elf nature causes her to be cautious, and she is often observant more than talkative when there are people she is unfamiliar with in a room. She lacks maturity in social settings, and has mannerisms that could be considered brash or strange. She is trusting, but asks many questions as she wants to be prepared for anything at any given time. She has spent most of her life traveling, mostly around the Valenwood, where she has made friends with many races, including the native Wood orcs of the Valenwood. Because of this, she has no true stake in the war, and instead helps those who are friendly and in need. Larenia spends most of her time outside, often just watching nature. She has a weak spot in her heart for those skilled in the way of bow and arrow, as they remind her of her late father. She tries her hardest to respect the Green pact, she does not however, follow the meat mandate
Why is your character in Dominion territory? How did they get here?
Larenia was born and raised in the Valenwood. Though her travels have brought her to all territories within the Dominion, she has always returned to the forests of the woods, often sleeping under the stars.
Background
Larenia was born under the name Nightwind, in the small village of Karthdar, Ghratwood. Her father, Karorim, was a retired Vinedusk ranger and Minfina, her mother, was a priestess of Y’ffre, who also tended to the villages sick and injured.
In Karthdar, spinners were not to marry as the bond between husband and wife was one with too great of risk. When Minfina met Karorim, they were both children. Skills and duties took Karorim away from Karthdar to become a Vinedusk Ranger. Many years later, he returned to the village on business - here he found a young Minfina flourished into a beautiful woman. Minfina, aware of her vows and duties to her people, was hesitant and disinterested. Karorim was persistent and though their relationship was forbidden, love quickly swept them away. Karorim could only visit Minfina on occasion, and so their relationship was easy to keep hidden. Until one day, those of the village had noticed Minfina had become more round as the months passed. A meeting of the elders was called and she was permitted to keep her baby and position, Minfina named this child Larenia, to grant her harmony and balance through all her life.
Larenia's childhood was relatively normal for a bosmer. Listening to stories, laughter, and playing with senche-tiger pups. Once her father retired from the Vinedusk Rangers, she spent most of her time at his feet until her mother would rip her away to learn to tend to those in the village who were ill. She learned to heal through the ways of the Green Pact - alchemy was never to be used. Often times, her mother could tell she wanted to go be with her father and so it was. Larenia was mesmerized by her father's ability to craft weapons and armor. He taught her that she must never take wood from the Valenwood, as it would be like taking limb from herself. Still young, she could not fully comprehend the lessons her father was trying to teach her.
Around the age of 24 (not yet body maturity for wood elves), her mother began to succumb to old age. Larenia didn’t understand why her mother couldn’t just heal herself like she did with all of the other sick people in the village, but her mother simply explained it the needed to return to the deep Valenwood, to help Y’ffre in a place beyond sight. Months turned into years and her mother continued to diminish. Minfina began to speak entirely in riddles. Unsure if it was her mother's sanity slipping from her or what all priests of Y'ffre of old age resort to, Larenia sat patiently by her side and listened to each word. Larenia no longer went out to play with the other children, nor did she attach to her father's feet. It was a cold, rainy day when her mother took her earrings from her own ears and placed them into Larenia's. "Y'ffre watch you, as you watch those around you.." were her mother's last words.
Until a new priest of Y'ffre was revealed in Karthdar, Larenia began to assist with small duties. Returning one day only weeks later, she found her father in similar state as her mother had once been. She fell to her knees at his side and asked what was happening, and he explained that as with all bosmer, he had to soon follow her mother. Larenia didn’t want to accept this, and she tried to heal her father in every way that her mother had once taught her, but nothing worked – and he soon passed.
Only 25: still young, vulnerable, and with tears in her eyes, Larenia left Karthdar. She had no idea where she was going, only that it was away. Looking for food one day, she found herself surrounded by Wood Orcs of the Valenwood. She had remembered what her father had said to her once about them prizing strength and honor so she stood tall and drew her sword. The Orcs laughed. She was skinny, short, starving.. One Orc lifted her in the air by her wrist, examining her. "A child" one snorted. A female Orc by the name of Moramat came from among the group and signaled for the release of Larenia to her. From this moment, she was accepted into the Wood Orc Clan that had found her. She learned many things from them, including the ability to work at the blacksmith forge. She stayed with the clan for many years, seeing some come into the world and some leave. Larenia was happy, but longed for the voice of the bosmer.
On her 105th birthday, she hugged her beloved Moramat good-bye and began her journey through the Valenwood for the capital, Elden Root. Of course, once she arrived at Elden Root she discovered many people from many, many different races. Shocked, she decided her travels would need to take her to more places than just the Valenwood. Now, at the age of 112 (roughly 20), she does odd jobs such as selling hand crafted weapon and armor and serving as a medic when needed.
