Character Name: Cirrcean

Race: Redguard

Age: 34

Sex: Female

Marital Status: Single

Affliction: None

Physical Description: At present, Cirrcean sports a strip of long, unadorned dreadlocks, which she coils into her headwrap from time to time. The rest of her head is shorn, most likely to accommodate the significant scarring to her left side. The damaged skin extends down her neck, and she often rolls her shoulder or massages it, particularly before a fight. A perceptive eye can see her left shoulder is smaller than her right. Her meager armor bears numerous nicks and divets, but is well cared for. The heavy maul she carries has the same well-worn look to it; the head is a tad loose on the handle, though, and could use repair. Her hands are calloused and her skin rough.

Background: Cirrcean does not know who her biological parents were or where she was born. Her adoptive fathers found her as a toddler in one of the stalls at the Red Feathers in Sentinel. One a towering sailor and the other a sword-wielding snake charmer, they provided her with a varied and challenging upbringing. They told her stories of sword-singers and of the sea (most were tall tales, but a few were true) and taught her to fight and sail. Whenever she fell or made a mistake, they put her back on her feet, helped her see where she'd misstepped, and had her try again. Except when it came to snakes. She never took to them as well as her father hoped, but she fared much better with horses. At play, she pretended to be a Saint, dramatically lofting a glowing greatsword above her head as she charged into battle. True, it was only a stick, and her enemies were most often the odd monkey or a band of cats. Still, her fathers played along and provided a soundtrack of more suitable war cries than her small voice could manage.

She grew into her voice and, in time, took to using a greatsword when sparring. In her mid-teens, her father began allowing her to accompany him on short voyages. She came into contact with all sorts of people and eventually developed a facade of acceptance her father derisively called her "Diplomat's Face." Journeys with him regularly devolved into tavern brawls, shouting matches, or duels as he tried to teach her it was perfectly fine to let someone know she didn't like them.

Back at home, though, her other father advised a certain amount of deceptiveness (perhaps because he spent far too much time with snakes). He pointed out to her that even in battle, it is common to feint left when one intends to strike right, and if she truly wanted to live by the sword, she would have to learn all of its lessons and not just a convenient few.

So it was that Cirrcean came under the tutelage of a local swordmaster. She was determined to learn more about the famed Ansei and the Way of the Sword. For a time. As is often the case, she gave in to arrogance and fell into foolhardiness. Her master and fathers warned her that she was not as mighty and knowledgeable as she thought, but she stubbornly signed on as a caravan guard for a travelling merchant at the age of twenty-two. Her fathers did not wish her to leave on bad terms and so offered her as much support as they could, reminding her she was welcome to come home whenever she felt the need.

Five years later, Cirrcean still had not been home. She wrote periodically and told her fathers how well she was doing and how many foes she'd beaten. She bragged that she was the best swordarm in Hammerfell and in high demand. She even sent trophies and money to them. But she had joined a group of Daedra hunters. The challenges were different from what she was used to, and she didn't learn from her missteps. While taking down a flame atronach in Craglorn, she was grievously wounded, and most of her fellows perished. Worst of all, she lost her sword.

Her arduous recovery took ages. When she could finally maneuver at least a shortsword, she made her way to Bangkorai and the docks of Evermore. She crewed on any ship that would take her, the sea air and the demanding labor strengthening her day by day. Whenever a ship arrived at its destination, she would disembark and wander the region until she felt it was time to go home. But by the time she reached a decent port, she'd convinced herself she could never return and chose a ship heading in the opposite direction.

It's been seven years since the atronach. She can once again wield a greatsword, but she doesn't. Ashamed, she has not been home. She hasn't even sent any letters, though she's written a few.

Link to Dominion: Her most recent voyage brought her to the shores of Malabal Tor.

Personality: Cirrcean is prone to reckless behavior, but she does try to curtail it so she can avoid further embarrassment. She despises cheats and liars and doesn't mind breaking a few bones to show them the error of their ways. The scars on her face have sparked a few fights in the past; she doesn't much care for people staring at her. She's friendly enough, likes a joke as much as the next person, and prefers beer or ale to drink, though she becomes rather sullen when she's had too much.
