Why is your character in Dominion territory? How did they get here?
As a mercenary, Sudine gets assigned jobs throughout all of Tamriel. She requested her employer to be assigned to any jobs near Vulkwasten, where her suitor, Ruscan currently resides. Fortunately for her, the Vulkwasten area is a plethora of unethical activity where she can make her mark.
Background
Sudine is an intelligent, though un-educated Redguard that has spent most of her life in the northwestern part of Tamriel. She was born and raised in Hew's Bane, an area of Hammerfell known for its criminal activities. When she was seven, Sudine witnessed both of her parents being murdered in their home by her uncle. He took her and fled to Daggerfall, raising her as his own daughter. During the first few years that she lived in Daggerfall with her uncle she was in constant fear for her life. He would threaten her if she were to speak to anyone of what he had done to her parents. As time progressed he would teach her the art of thievery. She would never forgive what he had done to her parents, but at the same time, he was the only family she knew.
By the time she reached eighteen, Sudine and her uncle were quite established as notorious thieves in Daggerfall. Their identities were never know, as they were clever at covering their tracks, but they would leave their mark everywhere they stole from.
Sudine eventually grew paranoid as the thievery continued. Her uncle was becoming more unpredictable and irresponsible with covering their tracks. She had enough of his behavior and after years of abuse by his hand, she killed him, avenging her parents death. She did not let him die easily and she made sure he would suffer. Her only regret is that her uncle suffers no more.
With her freedom secured, Sudine took on various jobs in Daggerfall including; house maid, shop keep and would even sink to prostitution when desperate for coin. She also continued her petty thievery, usually taking a few coins or items from her 'clients'.
She eventually would secure a job with a mercenary group to make money in what she considered a more legitimate institution. She would be paid to by the local government for various underground crimes, including thievery and the occasional murder.
One of Sudine's pleasures, besides drinking, was to watch theater in the Daggerfall Playhouse. Her favorites were the romances, as she had often imagined living the life of a Redguard princess. It was during one of the performance of "Wynsyn's Folly", a play she detested, that she met the writer of the play, Ruscan. She knew of him, but was never a fan of his plays. Usually, if one of his plays was on the billboard, she wouldn't attend. But her friend, Alahyn insisted that she came to this particular performance of "Wynsyn's Folly" since the playwright would be there. Alahyn was interested in Ruscan and wanted Sudine to be there as an excuse to leave if she didn't hit it off with him. Unfortunately for Alahyn, Ruscan had eyes for Sudine when they met and the two soon developed a romantic relationship. To this day, Alahyn and Sudine do not speak to each other.
