Why is your character in Dominion territory? How did they get here?

Naerwen has lived in Dominion territory all her life. She was born in Valenwood, moved to the Summerset Isle during her teens and twenties, before returning to Valenwood in an attempt rediscover her heritage.

Background

Naerwen was born in Woodhearth to her Bosmer mother, Cyllandra and Altmer father, Aralyon. Cyllandra originally hailed from Grahtwood, where she lived her life as a merchant selling and trading various cooking provisions and imported alchemy ingredients. Cyllandra moved to Woodhearth in an attempt to expand her business in the coastal town. Naerwen’s father was a Lieutenant in the Aldmeri Dominion posted to Woodhearth as a part of the local military garrison. He was introduced to Cyllandra after his company of men saved her and a group of merchants from bandit raiders on the roads outside of Woodhearth.

The relationship developed as a matter of convince for both parties. Cyllandra was able to exploit Aralyon’s position in the Dominion in order to secure merchant supply preference. For Aralyon it was simply a discrete physical outlet, being separated from his wife back in the Summerset Isle. In any case, Naerwen was the result of a particular night of carelessness. Unfortunately for Aralyon this indiscretion was discovered by the local Dominion command, and he was promptly sent back to Summerset leaving Cyllandra to raise her new daughter on her own.

For 10 years Naerwen was raised by her mother in Woodhearth and her education was for the most part, typical of Bosmeri young. She was however considered a outcast and shunned by the other Bosmer children due to the circumstances surrounding her heritage. This came to a head just after her 10th birthday, when Naerwen was the subject of a cruel prank that tricked her into severely breaking the green pact.

She was spared punishment when her mother was able to sneak her out of Woodhearth by securing passage to the Summerset Isle. Her father was contacted and able to facilitate the move, under threat of having his illicit relationship revealed to his High Elf family. Naerwen is to this day unaware of her mother’s fate.

On the Isle of Summerset, Naerwen was put to work as a house servant on her fathers modest estate under certain terms. She was never to be acknowledged as a daughter of Aralyon and under threat of banishment or worse, was forbidden from ever speaking of the matter. In turn, Naerwen would be provided with education, boarding and later a traineeship with a local Khajiit alchemist (learnt a few more tricks then just alchemy....).

Naerwen was to return to Valenwood at age 35 in an attempt to rediscover her Bosmer heritage. After many years of schooling and working in Altmer culture, she no longer identifies with her Bosmer history and wishes to change this. It will also provide answers to the fate of her mother.
