What a fool I truly am. I miss the swamps, the woodlands and the warm embrace of mother. The laughter of sisters to the stench of one of the aunties butchered pigs. I yearn to return to a time more tender, but there is no going back. Mind, body, and spirit there is no returning.

Last eve was the worst yet, not only did I embarrass myself in front of Lucrezia, but also to a good chunk of the village. Most of them women! My ankle is still swollen, I feel these herbs and balms are doing nothing for this, I might need to actually seek out a healer. Me, seek out a healer! I wonder if this dog is just bad luck in a fur coat. One of the young ladies was kind enough to wrap my leg last night before things got fuzzy. I hope I didn't say anything too stupid.

I need to focus, there is too much to do to worry about such things. Gods above I'll never eat goat again.

I should never have told her. This feels wrong, I don't want to look at that vision again! Shamefully, crippled by her gaze, I can't deny. Probably shouldn't tell her about the other things.

My infection seems to be on the mend, at last. Damn goats. I should really try to spend more time in town, but there has been an increase of children. What if one tries to speak to me or something? I guess I could pretend not to be there and ignore it. What if I sneeze on a khajiit? Hopefully, it won't claw my face off. Some of these cats make a swamp castle look stable.

Gah. As foolish as I feel, I can't help but hope that maybe she will like it. I'm not that weird...am I?

I can't wait for this trip to be done with. I haven't told Lu about the rest of what I saw, how can I? Instead, I gifted her the whistle. It's what she would have wanted if I can just prevent this from happening. I should never have looked, now I can't just let it go. To make things worse, she kissed me on the cheek. And hugged me. As usual, I froze, no wonder these people think I'm weird.

I promised I'd look into it and I shouldn't have. I lied, I don't know a thing about that kind of magic! I just wanted her to feel better. What's wrong with me lately? Breaking my own traditions just like that. Maybe one of the local mages could help. Might need some liquid courage.

I decided to move my camp more north of the village, lest my work upset the natives. To think mother was actually right about the strange ways of the bosmer people…

I’ve been gathering what I’ll need for my expedition into the woods. I don’t trust the locals, strange men and mer they surely are, but what choice do I have? I need amber for my staff and I need my staff to advance to journeyman. Well, the staff is the easy part. I’ll need to still assist someone in the village. How though? Do I just walk up to everyone and present my skills? Ask if they require aid?

I hesitate to demonstrate my skills at scrying or soothsaying. Such magics should never be used for petty requests. Still, I find myself in a bit of a bind.

But I will advance to journeyman. I will!

In the meantime, I’ve also hesitant allowed Lu to be my ‘apprentice’ or sorts...though apprentice is not the word for it. Assistant is more accurate. Honestly, it’s more to keep her out of trouble than any real hope of her learning the ways of a mage. That girl would stick her nose in a beehive if someone told her to.

Well, at long last I have a piece of amber. The expedition was a mess. Terrible, terrible mess. Overall, it cost me 28 gold coins, but I’ve still to pay Bhi and that horrid little bosmer bard. Gods. I shouldn’t even pay him. He did play music, which was what I hired him for, but he will get no magical trinket. I’d sooner give him something cursed. Not a bad idea…

Now I’ve just need to get some pieces from a blacksmith and I can finish my staff. One step closer to Journeyman!

Still I must help someone with my magic to continue.

Oh how well that attempt went. In an attempt to help Lady Gis out of the tree I very nearly killed her pregnant ass. No matter, a simple bump in the road. And hey, she lived.
