Three letters are left on the desk in the Guard hall, addressed to Kashya Vulano, Renma Vulano, and Zalya.
Sir Marshal Renma Vulano,
I suppose I'll be calling you 'Marshal' when I return, so I best start it now. I meant to see you before I leave but I received another letter that my arrival to Cyrodiil is urgent and I must leave in the morning. I was a solider once too and so is my father. We were in the same unit before I was sent back home. He was supposed to return home not long after me but never did. I found out that he's missing and my assistance in finding him is needed. When I return, I will want to be a Guard again. It's been one of the main reasons I stayed in Vulkwasten and have started to call it my home. I'll understand if my position is no longer available when I return, but I wanted to let you know that I do intend to seek it again.
I know that you will do well in this position. I have faith in that.
Sincerely,
Bashzug
Kashya' Letter
Madam Marshal Kashya Vulano,
I'm not sure if we are still technically supposed to call you Marshal but it's still a title that I believe you've rightly earned and proven yourself of holding on to.
I'm leaving in the morning, as directed by my former boss. I'm assigned to search for the group I was with before, a group that my father is a part of. They are missing and I am a good tracker. At least, that's what they remember about me. Once they are found and brought safely back, I will return.
If it's not too much trouble, could you read Zalya's letter to her? I know she's still learning to read and may have trouble with it. I appreciate everything you have taught me so far and for giving me a job that I love. It makes me feel like I have a place in town now. And I want to return to that.
Sincerely,
Bashzug

Zalya's Letter
Madam Zalya,
Don't be sad. You are fitting in well in this town and you are excelling beautifully in your position in the Guard. Just remember to listen to the Marshal, work your hardest, and don't be afraid to ask for help. Sir Fedris Timberscrub is someone that has helped me plenty of times and I know he'd lend a helping hand if asked.
Take care of Fuzzball. I will happily pig-sit for you when I return. Perhaps we can let the piglet meet my dog. I'm sure they'll be good friends.
Until I return.
Bashzug
