Sugar-Purr

Physical Description

Sugar-Purr is an older woman, furred like a tigress and with eyes like polished metal, whose body has grown soft with the combined ravages of age, luxury, and frequent sampling of her wares. She often wears flattering outfits, showing off her silky fur, but is just at home in a modest dress. Almost always clad in gaudy jewelry, from earrings to necklaces to bangles, and smelling of fine soaps and perfumes, she certainly projects an air of wealth and luxury, and the soft creases of her face make her seem almost motherly. However, any who have seen her wrath know that under her soft and silky exterior lies both a cunning asp and a ferocious beast, making those silvery eyes seem a bit colder and her smiles seem a bit too toothy.


Personality
Sugar-Purr is, at least outwardly, warm and caring, jovial and welcoming, immediately friendly. She tends to seem every bit as motherly as her appearance would suggest, generous and kindly. In conversation, she prefers to listen, though is quick to chime in if talk appears to be drying up, spurring discussion onward. Quick with a soothing word and another drink, she makes one feel cared for and appreciated.
However, much of this is a facade - the generosity replaced with a stinginess that would make Rahjin proud, the motherly caring gone with only cold distance in its place. Although she puts on a show for her clients, her true nature is much more selfish, calculating, and devious. She rarely lets things like morality or laws stop her from achieving her goals, her outward persona simply a tool to provide her with more leverage. She's not strictly evil, but has no remorse about toeing that line.

• Filth and dirtiness, especially foul odors
• The smell of certain herbs and tinctures

Strengths

• A large network of contacts, many of whom owe her favors or debts
• A wealth of information
• A cold, calculating mind and the remorselessness to use it to its potential

Weaknesses

• Attachment to her "children"
• Limited physical capabilities - she's old, flabby, and out-of-shape.
• Some substance abuse issues

Why the Dominion?
Sugar-Purr is a Khajiit, and has roamed within Elsweyr for most (if not all) of her life. Although she enjoys sticking her snout in politics, it matters little to her who is on top at any given time. However, she occasionally takes business trips further afield, whether to meet new clients, sample new spirits for inspiration, or collect on old debts, and so she could feasibly be found anywhere the underbelly thrives.

Background
Although she wouldn't tell anyone of this (and if she did, it would certainly be a web of falsehoods and half-truths)...
Originally from Senchal, a port-town deep within Elsweyr, Sugar-Purr came from a humble family, running a harborside bar. She lost her father early in life to an altercation with drunken pirates. As the bar struggled to stay running without him, profits dwindled, and her mother turned to illicit activities to stay afloat. Sugar-Purr learned two trades in her youth that would serve her well later in life, both proper and shady. As time went on, she watched her family disappear bit by bit, first beaten down by drug abuse, starvation, prostitution, and then taken from her - either by the law, the Skooma, disease, a drunken brawl, the result was the same. However, she survived, becoming crafty, stealthy, and bitter.
By the time the rest of her family had died, the bar was little more than a ramshackle husk, and she finished the job, burning it to the ground. From there, she worked in a variety of bars and inns throughout Senchal, still maintaining her illicit trades on the side, growing both her contacts in the underworld and her repertoire of knowledge. When the Knahaten Flu broke out in 2E560, Senchal was hit almost immediately. The pandemic left behind a wealth of orphans, and for whatever reason, Sugar-Purr took them under her protection. They fled Senchal, heading deeper into Elsweyr, where Sugar-Purr leaned upon what favors she could to establish a brewery near Torval. As the plague spread, she continued to take in orphans, and when the plague (or the law) got too close, her bar would "unfortunately" burn down, leaving no trace of the Khajiit matron or her flock of adoptees.
Ultimately, she found herself settled (at least for now) in Reaper's March, brewing and serving fine Khajiiti spirits to a wealth of patrons, while her "family" helps out - brewing and cooking, as well as some other tasks on the side...
