Ylirana@TimesNewRoman | Bosmer | Age 46 | Female | No Afflictions*
Personality
“They offered me the one thing I could never refuse… Gold."
A new face in the Mages Guild, Ylirana approaches every problem head on with a wild smile and a big enough sword to cleave through anything that stands in her way. She’s a bold woman, seemingly willing to take on the world and then laugh about it later. Though she’s joined the Mages Guild and has been dedicated wholly to unearthing relics of Tamriel’s past, she’s always been a striker rather than a caster, never content to remain behind the front lines and watch others have all the fun.
But even above her studies and her dances with danger, Ylirana is a sucker for one beautiful shining thing: Gold. Heaps and heaps of gold. She settles for nothing but the best in her purchases and is always willing to sell her sword arm(s). To earn the money to travel across Tamriel to find her historical artifacts, of course. The fun and excitement is only a bonus.
Under it all, she’s a protective sort and those she actually considers to be close to her tend to end up under her watch or always having their expenses paid. Ylirana has a soft spot for mages of all sorts, preferring to keep them safe at all costs.

Emotional Strength
Dedication
Ylirana chases what she wants, when she wants. She focuses on tasks and goals easily, unwavering in her resolve.
Emotional Weakness
Obsession
From time to time, what Ylirana wants becomes what she can’t fathom letting go. She must have it, at nearly any cost.
Motivation
Wealth
There was always joy to be had simply living life in Valenwood, but there was always even more joy when gold was involved. She once had none and after that had very little, leaving her always craving the times when money was no object. Always hungering for those days when the hunts went marvelously and trading caravans were simply pouring coin into the hands of local merchants. Ylirana chases that goal of happiness through wealth with all of her heart. A never-ending journey to the next pile of gold she can run towards, head and sword first.
Fear
Loneliness
She would never take even a breath to acknowledge the truth, but Ylirana is terrified of being alone with nothing but gold to keep her company. Deep inside, she wonders if she’s simply chasing money so that she can pay her way into companionship but tempers that inner dialogue by always seeking someone willing to accept a bit of coin.
Skills
Great Weapon Fighting
Formally trained and confident to a fault, Ylirana is exceptional with any weapon that’s nearly as large as she is.
Magelight
Ylirana is an atrocious mage and the only spell she’s managed to cast on a regular basis is a simple magelight. But it’s a very nice little light. Quite luminous.
Agility
Light on her feet despite her massive choice of weapon, Ylirana can dodge traps and suddenly falling boulders and poison darts with ease.
Why is Ylirana in Dominion Territory
For one, it’s so much easier to excuse behaviors in your own nations such as unusual inquiries and trips to places in bizarre locales. For two, Ayleid ruins are full of some of the strangest objects and devices that could prove valuable to historians and collectors alike.
For three? It is home. It is familiar and comforting when research and gold aren’t enough.
Background
Being poor in Valenwood is far from the worst of backstories, but it certainly didn’t do Ylirana any favors. Except teach her that money can make you happy and when one is happy, life becomes an adventure.
Her life was spent wandering from get rich scheme to get rich scheme. From meager adventuring to comfortable mercenary work, none truly gave her the rush or the funds she desired. Until she discovered that there was wealth to be had in the decrepit abandoned depths of Tamriel-- in ruins and tombs no one else dared to desecrate-- explore.
To learn of more places with undiscovered treasures, Ylirana joined the Mages Guild, using their libraries and collections of strange objects to fuel her research. But she was an absolutely poor excuse for a mage and had to find other ways to put herself to use so that she could stay in the guild’s good graces.
Ylirana latched herself to the eccentric mages. The ones that had theories too ridiculous to speak of in common circles, that had found the most peculiar of items through their studies. Ones that travelled to seek answers more than sat around the guild halls looking for undeniable proof first.
A lack of magic mattered little to a roaming party. Her sword arm was more than capable of supporting others when things got too dangerous.
The adventures only multiplied from there.
*No Afflictions. OOC, I have the Werewolf skill tree. I have zero plans to add it as an IC characteristic.
**sorry about the ugly edges on the art up there, I was RUSHIN' and forgot to go clean up *sobs*
