Arijhasa was born a slave in Telvanni territory and worked the saltrice fields mostly around Sadrith Mora. A young, low ranking Dunmer of House Telvanni befriended Arijhasa and a few other slaves and concocts a plan to free all the slaves on the plantation. Unfortunately, the Telvanni kill or recapture most of the slaves. Arijhasa runs, making use of the few spells her Dark elf friend taught her to evade the pursuing slavers intent on returning her to the Telvanni. She flees all the way to Auridon, reasoning that Dunmer slavers won't be able to reach her on the opposite side of Tamriel from Morrowind. During her journey, Arijhasa learns how to hunt, cook, and picks up a little friend: Ja'shi the Shadowghost guar!
