Character Name: Saurieth
Race: Altmer
Age: 144
Sex: Male
Affliction: None
Marital Status: Single - Not looking for anyone
Sexual Orientation: Pansexual
Physical Description: A tall Altmer is this one- when standing tall and proud at his full height, he is about six and one third feet tall. His skin is a pale olive hue, and his tree-bark brown hair cropped close to his scalp. He wears from head to toe a full suit of leathers- including gorget and skirt. The gorget is reinforced about the front and back of his neck with dragon scale. He wears about his hip a belt, fastened to which are a rapier on one side, a trident dagger on the other, and a large satchel in the middle.
Personality: A kind and caring soul, Saurieth is also somewhat elitist and though open-minded, very opinionated. He is also very thoughtful and solemn at many times, and likes to take the time needed to think his responses- both spoken and acted- through.
Likes: Saurieth likes intelligent people, and people who are kind or giving. That being said, he does not dislike (unintentional) stupidity, and he enjoys teaching people. He likes "wild" places, and the outdoors in general. He likes to study and read, as well as write and enjoy music.
Dislikes: Saurieth dislikes intentional stupidity, and meanness or pettiness in people. He doesn't really dislike any places, but events wise, he dislikes emotionally-infused fighting.
Strengths: Saurieth is a skilled fencer, and his magicka usage is focused on complementing that [so he knows a decent amount of alteration, rudimentary conjuration so as to be able to summon up basic weapons on his specialty, a good bit of enchantment (so as to allow him to enchant his weapons, recharge enchantments and/or strip enchantments so he can re-enchant), and he's a very knowledgeable and practiced alchemist.] He knows some basic thaumaturgy, but is not overly powerful in this field.
Weaknesses: Saurieth is not good with restoration magicka- that's an understatement, as he is liable to harm his patient more than he heals them. He has a mental and emotional blockage which stops him from using destruction magicka. Finally, love them as he may, whenever he attempts any artistic pursuit (other than writing), he meets with being simply adequate- something he despises being-, if not downright terrible at it.
Background: Saurieth is from Vulkhel Guard, born to a high-ranking port guardsman as his father and an herbalist and alchemist as his mother. He was taught from an early age the importance of service, and as a youngling, exemplified it by putting himself to his fullest at his studies. He was reading books tht most adults never read by the time he was six, and when he turned nine his father deemed him old enough to learn to use a weapon. He took to the rapier and trident dagger nearly immediately, and latched onto learning that form of fighting. His mother taught him the rudiments of herbalism and alchemy when he turned twelve, and he has studied their uses ever since. As soon as he came of age, he joined the port's guard, after his father.
Saurieth found out that he was naturally gifted at the use of Magicka when, after his partner was wounded while they apprehended a criminal, he effectively used alteration magicka to "infuse" some herbs he had to the effect of having the correct amount and type of liquid to become effective as a salve when mixed. This came as a surprise to him, and he nearly botched the salve out of that surprise! But he was able to finish it and apply it to his partner, who came out with nary a scar due to this. After this "incident", which occurred around Saurieth's twenty ninth year of age, he and his father decided he would study with Tauryel, the town's local sage who was also a skilled user of magicka.
Saurieth was lucky to be placed in this man's tutelage- Tauryel was very skilled in most forms of the mystical arts, and was also, unbeknownst to most, also a skilled thaumaturge. Saurieth learned much under Tauryel, who is, to this very day, one of the few people Saurieth considers a friend. But Saurieth, now being one gross in years of age, was a younger man than Tauryel. Tauryel was, in fact, getting ready to die. He was not scared, but considered it his next journey. Tauryel asked one final favor of Saurieth- who he wanted to remember him as a strong, capable Altmer, not some withering, old Altmer-, that he go out and travel and find a place he could serve as Tauryel had in his time.
