It was a particularly quiet day in Valenwood, only accompanied by the idle sounds of the wilderness that encompassed the wilderness outside of the reclusive Imperial's home. Laying down in his bed, he would stare idly up at the ring that he removed from his finger, allowing the trinket to dance along the tips of his fingers, staring at the shimmering rubies exaggerated by the dawn's rays that shone through his window. He'd feel his eyelids grow heavy as time continued to pass, and as he closed his eyes, the sounds of the wilderness beyond his walls would be replaced by a familiar voice.
"Quickly! Down this passage! We have to hurry before they catch up to us!" A voice cried, vaguely familiar to his ears, though the name now lost to time. Beads of sweat would run down his forehead as he glanced around his surroundings. Dark corridors would surround himself and his companions, in a location familiar, yet foreign to him. He was in Cyrodiil, though more specifically, inside of some Ayleid Ruins. What was he doing here? How did he get here? Was he not in Valenwood? He opened his mouth to speak, but the sound of hissing that echoed through the empty corridor cut off his sentence. He glanced towards his companion, an olive skinned woman with Raven, shoulder length hair glanced in his direction, a sense of urgency and panic reflected on her face, only illuminated by the light of a torch. What was her name again? Who was this woman that kept appearing inside of his dreams? He had so many questions, though the only thing that escaped his lips was a stifled breath. Panic and dread were all that filled him, feeling the woman grab onto his hand and swiftly attempted to guide him through the labyrinthine halls of the Ayleid Ruin.
The hissing that seemed so distant but only a few seconds ago now seemed to close in around the two, the clanking of their armor amplifying within the deafening silence of the seemingly empty ruins. As his head darts around to look at their surroundings, he spotted a shadow swiftly gaining on their trail. He wanted to scream, he wanted to call out to his companion to warn her, but found that he couldn't speak. Suddenly, a shrill cry filled the halls. Glancing towards the direction of the scream, holding up his torch, he saw a figure had descended upon his companion, feasting from her blood as if the unknown assailant were some starved animal. Paralyzed with fear, his eyes locked onto the figure's own eyes when their faces met, recognizing the face as.. his own? Was it really him? Was this the result of some twisted enchantment placed on the ruins themselves? So many questions filled his racing mind, but he simply couldn't find the voice to speak, nor could he find the voice to scream. As the vampire lunged towards him, the world went dark.
Adrian had awoken, the beam of moonlight drenching his now pale complexion, his sunken cheeks and his dark, ageless eyes that brimmed with an unholy hunger. He peered out the window of his home, running a hand over his face. The dream he would have countless nights continued to haunt him, hounding his nights, though as time continued to pass, that dream would only become hazier and hazier to remember in clarity, though the scene continued to play as if it happened but mere days ago. How long has it been since then? Weeks? Months? He turned his head back towards his bed, glancing down at the ring that had fallen onto the floor while he slept. He knew that ring held some significance to him, but what exactly did it mean to him? Why was he treasuring a trinket that he could not remember so clearly? Picking the band up from the floor of his home, he'd hold it up in the beams of moonlight that illuminated his darkened home, peering towards the shimmering rubies that were engraved into the gold ring. He slipped it onto his finger and glanced towards the door. It seems the time has come once again for him to hunt for his next meal.
