Morning! Here is my character I would like to roleplay, presenting for approval as ordered. I hope you like how she sounds. I'm looking forward to the chance to roleplay her. I can easily write a morally just, or morally grey character, but I've always found it difficult to write a character who is a real arsehole. I'm hoping Silainel will help change that.

Anyway, thanks again for the chance!

Physical Description

Silainel was always tall, even as a child. As a woman she towered over the lesser races of mer and man. Every step, every breath, every gesture betrayed the elegance as befitted the scions of the more affluent Altmeri families. Her white curls glistened in the moonlight, and glowed like fire in the setting sun. Smooth, golden skin glided over her toned warrior's muscles like honey. Pale green eyes peered out from a face shaped by the strong, sharp cheeks and framed by the long, pointed ears of the elven people. She was a creature of beauty, desirable and desired.

Once.

Now her skin is bleached as white as the cleanest sheets, and her sunken eyes tainted with broken blood vessels and deep, red, and shadowed lids. Her beautiful pink lips are as grey as rainclouds. All that remains the same are her hands: her long, delicate, strong hands, with nails as long as a wolf's fangs, and often encrusted with dried blood - blood that once belonged to those she healed. Now it belongs to those she kills, who lie entrapped in her embrace while she takes what she needs from them.

Though she misses her golden skin, she no longer cares if the blood on her armour is from her enemies. She no longer cares about the droplets staining the silk of her gowns. Just one look at her is all is needed for others to know she is one from whom they must stay away, for any elegant gesture could be the one to ensnare her next meal.

Personality

Under development.

Likes
  • A glass of full-bodied wine sweetened with just a hint of blood, sipped while sitting beside a roaring fire in the evening.
  • The crisp pages of a well-used but well-cared-for book; the delicate scrawl of ink across the pages; the smell of glue and dusk and ink rising to her nose.
  • The smell of dried roses delicately scenting her clothes.
  • Just how easy it is to lose a hunter in the forests of Valenwood, or to find one.
  • Stealing the valuables of patients who don't pay her. After all, she provided a service; she is entitled to it.

Dislikes
  • The lower races were lower for a reason.
  • The disgusting taste of anything Bosmeri, Redguardian, or Argonian, especially Rotmeth.
  • The smell of mammoth cheese.
  • The lies of the gods and their followers, however useful they may or may not one day be.

Abhores
  • The parents and the cause who betrayed her, and all whom betray her in the future.
  • The fools, idiots, imbeciles and drunks of the world who think they are better than her.
  • Beggers, reaching out with muddy hands, pleading for a handout they don't deserve.
  • Patients who were worse than beggers, promising payment and never delivering.
  • The Vigilants of Stenndar, always hunting, always hurting, never leaving her alone.
  • Healing. It was not the choice she would have ever made for herself, had she been given the change to choose.

Adores
  • The thrill of the hunt: the careful selection, the silent stalking, the sweet, orgasmic moment her victim's blood first touches the tip of her tongue.
  • The delicate stitches of embroidery decorating the collar of a silk gown.
  • The feel of silk and satin on her skin.
  • A new gown, perfectly fitted.
  • The comfort and splendor money can bring

Strengths
  • Her strength, stealth, and ability to enthrall others: being a vampire does have its perks.
  • Her ability to learn, and to adapt her newly acquired knowledge to her situation.
  • Her skills as a healer. For as much as she hates it, she is good at what she does.
  • Her adaptability, and her ability to hide in plain sight. Ironically, she would have been killed long ago were it not for those skills taught to her by the Heritance.
  • Her determination and intelligence. She will find the solution to a range of problems if given enough time. This was what kept her alive, even though the odds were stacked against her. A person of lesser intelligence would have been killed very quickly, probably by the Heritance, or, if not, a hunter or Vigilant. Silainel will not let anyone other than herself decide where and when and how she will die.

Weaknesses
  • Her ability to enthrall others only works on the very old, the very sick, or the very, very tired, and it leaves her so weakened afterwards it is not worth the effort.
  • Her conceit and her inflated sense of entitlement. It's not entirely her fault: she was born to a noble family. Noble families don't understand the need for compassion, nor community, nor empathy. She was raised to be a soldier, a healer, and a politition: they have no need for compassion. But Silainel had the chance to learn, and she chose not to.
  • She cannot make friends. She alienates people with her behaviour as much as her sickly appearance. She angers them, argues with them, and often refuses to cooperate with them.
  • She is argumentative, always believing she is right.
  • Her paranoia. She always believes someone is hunting her, or out to get her. If someone looks at her wrong she immediately suspects duplicity, or the Heritance, or the Dominion Army, or a hunter. It saved her countless times while she was on the run; but, it makes it difficult to settle in a new area.
  • Mental and emotional fatigue. She still seeks revenge, but she is tired of running. She wishes to stand and attack her enemy head-on, even though such an action would kill her. This is why she tries to settle. She denies it, especially to herself, but she wishes for the life she had when she still lived at home: warm, comfortable, with the unassailable sense that she belonged there. But settling makes it easier for hunters to find her. It is not safe for her to stay in one place while she is still a vampire.
  • Her hypocracy. She is a racist. She despises werewolves, daedra, and dislikes the lower races of man and mer but she is still a vampire.

Background and Why She Is In The Aldmeri Dominion

Under development.

Silainel Sharp-Claws was an only child born into an affluent family, every one of whom were members of the Veiled Heritance. Her childhood was spent studying magical theory with tutors from the Mages Guild, specifically healing magic as was family tradition, but also alchemy and enchanting, in addition to all the small things a lady of stature is expected to know.

When she came of age she was officially recruited into the Heritance. The first several years were spent taking part in physical training, where she learned the use of sword and shield in combat, and learned how to apply her theoretical knowledge in the field. Again, as was expected, she was a loyal servant. Her knowledge as a healer, enchanter, alchemist, and combat medic grew steadily over the years, until she was finally deployed on Summerset as a sleeper agent, where she and her cell stayed for several years, silently destabilising the local government in favour of their own operatives. The mission was a success.

After the completion of her first mission she was transfered to a new cell entrusted with establishing a Heritance camp near Graddun Spring in northern Summerset Isles. Several days after their arrival the camp was attacked by a swarm of bloodfiends. Only a handful of soldiers survived: the bloodfiends' numbers were simply too great. The rest were left gravely injured and infected with the vampiric disease. Silainel, the only healer in the camp, was unable to heal herself of either her wounds or the disease. Several days later, she became a vampire (via the Skyrim disease progression. Rather than becoming a vampire being a conscious, and religious, decision in ESO, in Skyrim it was a more natural disease. I actually forgot one of my skyrim characters had been infected until she turned in the middle of a quest).

By the time she recovered enough to heal herself of her wounds, she had been a vampire for nearly a week. The first time she fed it made her sick. The second time, the same. By her twentieth victim, she had grown to like it, and the power it gave her.

Neither the Heritance, nor her family took kindly to the change. They demanded she seek a cure, and when she refused, declared her a traitor to the Heritance and the Altmer race. She was diseased, polluted, a demon. They wanted nothing to do with her. They cast her out with only the clothes on her back and the sword at her hip, with hunters immediately on her trail.

She was furious. Her family, her cause, abandoning her on a whim. She wanted revenge.

It took almost three years to find a way off Summerset, dodging hunters and Stenndar's Vigilants while she studied her new abilities and condition. By autumn the third year she had learned how to hide her disease and hunt in secret well enough that she was able to successfully hire on to a smuggler's ship eventually bound for the Continent. It docked in Velan Harbor a month later where she immediately fed - as she had in successive ports along the route - snuck over the border into Greenshade, and made her way to Woodhearth where she immediately hired on a succession of ships heading down the coast to Haven. She stayed in the inn there for nearly a month until she was satisfied she had lost any hunters or Vigilants who may have been on her trail. Once convinced, she made her way to the local Dominion Army recruitment officer, and signed up, assigned to the local garrison.

Silainel never told anyone about her condition, or her former affiliations with the Heritance. She started over from the beginning, slowly learning Dominion ways. Every day she put all her skills to good use foiling whatever Heritance plan they came across. She was sure she was growing to be a thorn in their side and the thought always made her smile.

But the constrains of the army cut into her. Every order pierced her, every reprimand burned. She was greater than any of her commanders or her comrades. To be treated as a common soldier was an insult to her noble self. Her revenge wasn't worth such treatment; so, she began to plan her next escape.

The gods were kind to her. She was soon assigned to escort some random, lesser dignitary to Auridon - she didn't pay attention beyond that. Auridon was not her ideal destination, but it would be easier to escape the army there than it was in such a small, close-knit town. She fed as much as she dared, and she was soon on her way.

Then the hurricane came. Just off the khajiiti island of Kenarthi's Roost her ship and many others were decimated by the storm. She clung to a piece of broken hull for half a day until she lost consciousness, and washed up on shore.

She awoke in the middle of the night stashed away in a makeshift infirmary overflowing with patients injured in the storm. Her hunger was overpowering. She drank three people dry before she could stop. Then, someone crunching the grass underfoot, coming her way. Silainel barely made it back into bed before a very young, and exhausted khajiiti healer stepped in, and began checking patients. The cat's exhaustion was her downfall. It was harder than usual, but Silainel was able to slip into her mind just enough for the healer to pass over her victims. But Silainel was still weak. She fell asleep again, waking this time to daylight and another healer standing over her, smiling at her new, brighter, and healthier complexion.

The healers were happy to release her from their care after a quick examination. For the second time in her life Silainel found herself alone. She trawled through the camps and infirmaries on the island, looking for any shipmates or colleagues, but no one knew her. Everyone was dead, drowned in the unfathomable ocean. She was free, all she had to do was get off the island.

A task easier said than done. Only one ship survived the storm in any condition, and it left soon after Silainel heard about it. She had to work, healing the sick and injured by day, preying on her healthier patients when she could, until she earned or took enough to book passage on one of the merchant ships that eventually returned to the island. She didn't know where it was going, and frankly she didn't care. Anything to get off the tiny island with its swarm of soldiers and suspicious cats, and nosy kittens who witnessed far too much and called her Claws. She didn't know what she was going to do, nor where she would settle; but, she knew she would be all right. She had made it this far, and no one ever suspected the healer.

Everything's here, but there is something I'd like to address before approving your sheet.

Your character has the skin of a vampire, which would very easily lead to her imprisonment within the town. If you are going to play an afflicted character, please be certain that she uses some sort of illusion to conceal her skin tone and eye color.

Also, with that being said, do keep in mind that the Rules of Conduct states on their supernatural rules,

Elsynia wrote
  • No TWILIGHT, please. This does not mean that, say, your vampire only feeds on animals. This means, please do not over romanticize the idea of these supernatural creatures.

and while I think this is rather straightforward, I sense a possibility of it with this character.

Otherwise, your character sheet looks perfectly fine. Just let me know that you understand this and I'll accept it ASAP.

Afternoon, Kashya. Nice to meet you.

Yeah, sure, I understand. Your suggestion of illusion spell is particularly helpful. I had completely forgotten about the Illusion school of magic when I was writing her backstory. It would certainly be useful for her to wear an illusion in dangerous company. Before I was just thinking that, since in Skyrim if you feed enough you only looked rather ill, she would just go on a massive killing spree and gorge herself before boarding ships and the like, but the illusion is much better. I'm not sure how that would work regarding the lore. Is it possible in the Elder Scrolls for the illusion to be a crystal-based spell, sort of like a battery/data storage/holographic projector? Maintaining a illusion spell would probably tax her magicka pool too much. Despite her current attribute distribution for dps purposes, I don't think she has a very large one.

I also understand and definitely share the guild's aversion to over-romanticised vampires. Those damn books did a real number on our collective culture, damn them. I'll definitely do my best to adhere to that. It may not always work, of course. Like I said, I find it very difficult to write a character who is a genuine douche bag without turning them into a cliched caricature, and Silainel is definitely not intended to be a good person. She stays a vampire because she gets a kick out of the power it gives her over others, which probably makes her a psychopath now that I think about it. Anyway, I do understand, and I'll definitely try to watch out for it.

Most vampires usually use persistent spells or other, creative methods to hide their vampirism, such as skin paint; I know of one character who used to do that, and may still. Anywho.

The enchantment of jewelry to augment the wearer is possible, so I see no immediate issue with the use of an enchanted band capable of disguising the wearer, even if merely to the extent of changing skin and eye color. Although I haven't seen that yet, I'm fairly sure it would not conflict with lore.

I just wanted to say that I, for one, enjoyed reading your character backstory and the details you put into it. Its often the small things, in my opinion, that make one 'real'.
