Dar'Zaka is an intelligent and skilled Khajiit who enjoys cooking a fantastic seven course meal as much as slashing the throat of those who displease his master. He has unyielding loyalty to his vampiric lord but isn't wholly dependent upon him. Often you'll find him chasing his own interests. Though never straying to far as to be unable to assist should he be called upon. He doesn't have friends (not yet anyway). His code of morals and honor defines him. loyalty first and foremost followed by honor (specifically towards those above him, enemy's and targets get no such respect from him).
Where as love and compassion are not worth the loss. He doesn't want for much least of for leadership, preferring to stay in the shadows, but if opportunity's are given by those he respects and has given his loyalty to he will always follow their command to the best of his ability. Simply put, if Dar'Zaka likes you he will die for you. If he doesn't, there would be no hesitation should you be on his list of targets.
He is in the dominion because his master is in the dominion. What kind of shadow doesn't follow its host.
Dar’zaka Zahjar was born in Corinth in 2E 550 to the Zahjar Clan, a trader family which bolstered the normal supply of food in several surrounding cities, along with his twin sister. Dar’zaka and his sister were always very close growing up; some even thought the two were gifted with a single mind as they were so close. The siblings would grow further and further apart, but even then Dar’zaka was always there to protect his sister. Without his sister to entertain him, Dar’zaka developed an interest in the culinary arts which quickly replaced his interest in the family business. He was taken by a desire to explore the world and search for the rarest, but most tantalizing ingredients Tamriel had to offer. As the desire grew, so did his parent’s aversion to his passion. By the age of 16, Dar’zaka was banned from cooking as the day he would reluctantly take over the family business loomed ever closer.
A month prior to Dar’zaka taking control of the family business, his parents set out to see their latest acquisition, a farm in Kenarthi’s Roost. They had purchased the farms in the hopes he would be more motivated to take on the family business if it allowed him to travel. Days before they were due to arrive back, however, Dar’zaka and his sister received news that a storm had sunk the ship they had been on, leaving no survivors. Heartbroken, the two found no comfort in one another and stay apart until the day Dar’zaka would officially take control of the business. His sister fell into a pit of despair at the loss of her parents, with no one to blame her anger turned toward Dar’zaka. At the signing, Dar’zaka’s sister burst in and demanded he not sign the paper. She challenged him on the spot and declared her intention to take control of the business. Dar’zaka knew there would be no way to convince her otherwise and renounced his claim. Upon taking control, Dar’zaka’s sister exiled him from his home.
Two months into his exile, Dar’zaka had made several friends in poverty. The group banded together six months into his exile and form a mercenary band and, after a year and-a-half of performing mercenary work, the group repurposed itself into an assassin’s guild at the behest of Gerion, a Bosmer. Gerion became the leader of the assassin’s guild known as the Red Arrow and Dar’zaka remained in the guild for five years until the Red Arrow received a contract for his sister. He destroyed the guild from within to protect his sister, but it was all for naught as her life came to an end on the night the guild shattered. She was slain by a nameless assassin while Dar’zaka held the remnants of the guild at bay. Upon her death, Dar’zaka killed every member of the Red Arrow in a blind rage, save Gerion, who convinced Dar’zaka to spare him.
After the Red Arrow’s collapse, Dar’zaka became a rogue assassin with Gerion, doing jobs for the highest bidder. The pair eventually got a job from a Khajiit known as Ko’daran. The mysterious stranger asked them to kill an ancient vampire known as Auranok. The assassination did not end well as Auranok was far more powerful than either of them expected. Shortly after the battle began, Gerion fell to the vampire. The rage which smoldered within Dar’zaka roared to new levels which seemed to pique the Night-stalker’s interest. The battle did not end with the drained corpse of a nameless Khajiit, but in an accord. Auranok believed he could make use of Dar’zaka’s talents and made him a servant of the undead. Calming his unbreakable rage, instead choosing to lock it away for his own purposes. Dar’zaka has served faithfully as the ancient vampire’s shadow ever since.
