ESO Name: @iHaveReturnd
Character Name: Terath Drethan
Race: Dunmer
Age: 29
Sex: Male
Marital Status: Dating
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Affliction: None (Cured of Lycanthropy in the past)
Physical Description
((Image above, but since it's a bad screenshot)) Terath stands at 5'9", a fairly average height for the Dunmer. His eyes are a deep red that seems to flare in fire light. He keeps his hair rather long, but pushed back to keep it from getting in the way. He has a short black beard which he grew accustomed to keeping while he was living in the cold northern regions of Skyrim. Terath often wears leather armor, so as not to reduce his mobility but provide some level of protection. He prefers to dual-wield swords but often uses a bow to hunt.
Flairs
Terath almost always has a silver dagger strapped across his lower back which he carries as a safety precaution. He often hunts and is seen with his companion wolfdog, Moon (Pictured above). He has a set of claw like scars running down his chest, as well as a thick single line scar across his mid thigh.
Personality
Summary:
Terath tends to be a more quiet and reserved Dunmer, particularly in larger social settings. It's not that he does not like the interaction, he just does not like talking about his past and knows that it will inevitably come up. He likes to help others whenever he can, and this is how he often meets new people and makes friends. He strives to be honorable yet humble. In his teenage years he contracted Hircine's curse and lost control. Due to unlikely actions of a Fighters guild member, he was able to be cured after several failed rituals and a variety of potions and poisons that left him on death's door.
He has traveled a large part of the world and fought with members of all races. He does not care what race someone is as long as they treat others with respect. Terath gains a great deal of respect and understanding through confrontation and combat. It is part of how he sees himself and others grow. The reactions to combat before and after are often telling of another's character, so he will not shy away from a fight unless he sees it as pointless (for example fighting someone who has just had too much to drink).

Sorry for the length below, I hope it's not too much!
Background
Terath Drethan was born Terath Hlaalu. He was born in the middle tier of the house. Due to the political climate at the time and whispered plots, his parents feared for his safety. That he may be assassinated or put in an impossible situation to make his death look normal. Others may gain (rather meaningless) standing or a higher seat in the house's hierarchy with his death. Rather than risking this, they sent him away to an adoptive family, in hopes that he may help the world become more united, particularly when it comes to race.
Terath does not know his origin, simply that his adoptive parents who were farmers, raised him since they found him. Terath's parents farmed a small plot of land in Stone Falls. He spent most of time helping with the land as he grew up but never really saw himself continuing to move dirt and ash for the rest of his life. His parents were understanding and supportive when he shared this with them around the time he turned 12. They started splitting his time between training with the Fighter's Guild in Davon's Watch and helping with the farm and animals.
As he grew he went on more and more missions with the Fighter's Guild and helped them hunt creatures and monsters that plagued the land such as Daedra, Vampires, Werewolves and occasionally specific Dremora. When he hit his 20's, the Fighter's Guild requested he relocate to Eastmarch. It was still possible that he would run missions in The Rift and Stonefalls. He was open to seeing the world and graciously accepted.
While traveling through The Rift to reach Eastmarch, his caravan was set upon by a pack of werewolves. The Fighter's Guild members present were used to fighting these creatures, but many of the caravan were just travelers and merchants. They did their best to fend them off and were ultimately successful, though with a number of losses. Terath himself received a serious, but not life threatening wound to his chest. He and others feared what it meant for him. At the time, some of the merchants and Fighter's Guild members believed that packing the wound with Wolfsbane would stop the affliction, so they did. As they traveled, they kept an extremely close watch on Terath. Days went on and nothing happened. Eventually nerves settled and everyone, including himself, believed he was fine.
After he had time to rest and heal, Terath started going back on missions in the field. One night, perhaps by happenstance and the first full moon since his injury, he decided to go out hunting. While hunting alone in the woods he felt the horrors and urges that coincided with lycanthropy. He felt the change, the hunger. He hunted through the night as a beast. He woke up alone and quite cold in the morning. Oddly enough there was a creature that looked to be a half-dog half-wolf snuggled up to him for warmth. He wasn't sure where it came from, but the wolf followed him and they became inseparable. He later named his new companion simply, "Moon."
Over the years, Terath made every effort to keep his affliction a secret. He couldn't tell his only friends and companions that he was now a creature they sought to kill. He would leave town for a few days on a mission when he thought a transformation may occur. He would make a hunt out of it and bring back trophies from the creatures he hunted to help keep suspicions low. He started to dabble in magic, largely to try to find out if he could control his curse. He learned several offensive magic styles, largely fire based, to help combat the foul creatures they hunt. This served as a way for him to mask searching for a cure.
Terath advanced through the ranks to the rank of Swordsman, and believed that he would soon take over the Fighter's guild chapter when promoted to Protector.
Why is your character in Dominion territory? How did they get here?
Terath Drethan left the northern lands of Skyrim due to a particular incident with the fighters guild. He worked with them to hunt down evils throughout Tamriel (elaborated on in the background section). While on a notable mission hunting a dremora, Terath and his party realized they were outnumbered and out of position. He made a quick decision to have the group run. They did not know the terrain or the area they were in and wound up being unwillingly funneled into a dead end. Terath had vowed he would never allow himself to transform when he was not in control, but was unable to keep the vow he set for himself.
The Dremora and its minions closed in giving the group no options to escape. Terath's group formed a line and tried to hold to "even out" the numbers. Two of the of guild members were struck down leaving Terath and four companions. They knew they wouldn't get out, but they were determined to try. After the third man fell, one of the Daedra managed to get a sweeping cut across Terath's leg, cutting down his combat effectiveness. Terath fell to one knee, he looked up and saw his companions fighting furiously for their lives, also defending him. He felt lost, trapped, afraid. He couldn't let his friends die like this. He felt the surge of Hircine's curse within him, the pain of his body changing, bones shifting, skin spontaneously stretching. From there he remembers lunging into the Daedra and tearing them to shreds. The guild members were shocked but years of training and combat allowed them to take a moment and collect themselves. They regrouped and moved to kill the Dremora while the monster before them had its attention.
How the scenario ended is still a little hazy to do this day. He knows that he did not kill any of the guild members, but from reading their expressions and seeing their exhaustion he was fairly certain he tried to. The guild members must have subdued him, though he wasn't entirely sure how. When he came to, the remaining members of his group gave him two options. He could be locked up while they try to cure his disease, which very well may kill him. Or they could strike him down in that moment. Terath was shocked to receive both options, since they were both rather merciful. After a moment of consideration. He recited the vows he took when he joined the Fighter's Guild, and said he if he was cured he would leave this place and continue to hunt their marks.
After months or years of being chained, he had lost track of time. The guild tried all sorts of potions, poisons, remedies, rituals, prayers, ceremonies, and ultimately a sacrifice to cure him. The sacrifice was what changed his life forever. He did not know the guild would go that far. It nearly broken him to see another die so that he may be cured. On the bright side, it did actually cure him. At least the death was not for nothing. Terath had to cement that thought into his brain. He would not let that sacrifice be for nothing, he would help prevent others from suffering this pain and helplessness. He would do everything he could to reduce and if possible, wipe out the curses of Nirn.
After he had some time to recover from the struggles of curing the curse, the Fighter's Guild continued his training. When they felt he was mentally ready, the guild protector issued Terath orders travel to Vulkwasten, a settlement in the Malabal Tor where many rumors of cursed individuals were whispered. The Protector felt Terath could start a small Fighter's Guild organization to rid the region of the threat, and grow the Fighter's Guild influence. Terath was promoted to Protector before the supplies were packed and he was sent on his way.
As a note, I would love thoughts and feedback. I am open to criticism/changes especially if things need to change to fit in or are too cliche! Thank you for reading!
