Whether knowing it or not, she follows a very strict personal code. She abhors authority, and views greed as the most primal failings in mortals. She believes that all hierarchy will inherently lead to abuse, and feels the world would be a more just place without empires or kings. She abhors slavery as well as any structure that places gold or gain above the lives of mortals.
Desires: Usil wants to change the world. She doesn’t want to rule over anything or anyone, but to create a place where human connections and the free exchange of knowledge and labor thrive.
Conflict: While Usil is idealistic, and truly believes that everything she’s doing is good, she’s not above hurting others who threaten her way of life. She’ll do everything she needs to to protect her own. She’s also a worshiper of Sanguine, which she justifies by claiming ownership only of what she calls "healthy hedonism". She believes that no one should be denied the pleasures of life, but expresses that there must be a healthy balance between hard work, and debauchery. She understands that Sanguine isn't a 'good' patron, but feels far more connected to him than any aedric presence.

Magic: Usil is an accomplished mage. She focuses on more academic pursuits, favoring the schools of conjuration, and mysticism over others. While by no means a master, she’s competent. She’s able to summon and hold daedra, knows her way around soul magic, and can conjure weapons and armor as needed.
Gardening: Usil spent several years as a farmer in an agrarian community. She developed a penchant for growing her own food that she never had in Valenwood. She also found solace in gardening for beauty. She’s developed a green thumb, which is rare for bosmer.
Dueling: Usil is a sport fencer. While she’s not as competent as many warriors, she knows the practicalities of sword fighting. Most of her training though is based on scoring a touch, rather than a killing blow.
Weaknesses:
Stunted Magicka: Usil was born under the sign of the Atronach, which means that while she generally has deeper pools of magicka to draw from, she doesn’t recover it naturally. In order to get her magicka to return, it needs to come from an external source. This can either be through absorbing spells, through potions, or through some other font of power.
Physical Strength: She's a tiny bosmer. Her arms are like wet noodles.
Distrust of Portals: While Usil’s studied portals, and is not entirely opposed to using them, she’s had bad experiences with them in the past, and would much rather travel by foot if feasible.

Thresal Rosewood: Usil’s mother. She’s worked many jobs over many years, including working with Usil in Cyrodiil. Thresal and Usil have had a strange relationship. Usil was born when Thresal was young, and poor. She was a single mother, and had trouble raising a young, sad Usil. Nevertheless, she provided care that Usil could not return as a child their relationship was later repaired when Usil transitioned, and reconnected to her mother, but was again damaged when Usil left their community in Cyrodiil to worship Sanguine. Thresal is currently missing, and presumed dead.
Usil Rosewood Senior (Deceased): Usil’s grandmother and namesake. The older Usil was short lived for a bosmer, dying at just 80 years old from an infection. She was remembered fondly in her community as someone who went out of their way to help others.
Rejard Rosewood: Usil’s grandfather. Usil does not keep in contact with him, despite the fact that he lives rather close to her. He’s a butcher by trade. He did not approve of Usil transitioning, or the fact that Usil took his wife’s name. The years of isolation have not helped their relationship.
Friends:
Jonus V’Saer (Deseased): Usil’s former on again off again lover, and cultist with her. Jonus was from Hammerfell originally, but did not stay there long. Usil met him in Cyrodiil. The Rose Garden was originally Jonus’ idea. It was then expanded upon by Usil and her cult. He died on the raid on Stendarr’s order.
Rose Garden Staff: The current Rose Garden staff can be found here.
Enemies:
Jaquline Plinentanus: The priestess in charge of the order Usil’s cult raided. She does not know who Usil is, nor where to find her, but would recognize her on sight, and hunt her down.

Usil was born in Valenwood. Her mother was a bosmer by the name of Thresal and her father was an altmer. She never knew her father, only that he and her mother were together only a short time. Her mother was only 20 when she was born, and struggled to feed Usil. Thresal moved from place to place as Usil grew up. She dedicated much of her time, and her life taking care of Usil as she worked. As such Usil grew up on the job, helping her mother with tavern work, tanning, butchering, and hunting.
She left home in her 20’s, and lost contact with her family for awhile. Usil briefly joined the Mages guild, only to become sick of the mages politics. She distrusted and despised the hierarchies inherent in the guild’s structure, and didn’t much care for playing politics. She stayed for five years, leaving when she transitioned, taking the name Usil from her maternal grandmother. She secluded herself a little bit, spending time reading into complex magical theories, developing a bit of an obsession. One of her obsessions involved daedra, finding joy in the teachings of Sanguine. Eventually she reconnected with her mother, and the two finally had a healthy relationship, after Usil was out of the closet.

She spent time in Morrowind in her thirties, working as an apprentice to Telvanni mages. She only held the job for a few years though before she left unable to support the active chattel slavery in the great house. It was around this point where Usil began to invest herself heavily in politics, though she rejected most legitimate channels, instead aligning herself with a small independent group in the Valus Mountains of Cyrodiil. Their intention was to grow a self-sustaining egalitarian alternative to the empire of the Interregnum, with idealistic plans to succeed from the Interregnum Empire. While mostly an egalitarian society focusing on an agrarian lifestyle, there were community members from all walks of life. Usil fit in well, developing a knack for aiding the community with her practical knowledge of magic. At Usil’s invitation, her mother was invited into the community.
While the community grew over the course of several years, there were internal rifts that threatened to fracture the group. Public opinion had split along several lines. The largest fractures came between whether or not to allow daedra worship in the community. Usil was among the louder voices advocating for the freedom of religion, and formed a decently sized coalition to argue her point. She remained for about a year longer before the society ejected her coalition. Her mother remained behind. Usil’s small, but vocal cult attempted to establish themselves in several locations, though were never able to find a permanent home.

Her strange little cult began to fantasize about a new kind of community. A place that is both heavily politicized, and completely apolitical. A place with no leaders and minimal rules aside from ‘Don’t cause trouble’. There was a certain idealism to this idea that appealed to Usil and the group. They began to pool money and search for locations, but they didn’t have the quite the funds, or manpower needed to do build everything they wanted. Usil appealed to Sanguine for aid. Though she had summoned daedra before, this was the first time she had done so in order to ask for something.
Through the summoning, Usil was given the location of a well funded priestess of Stendarr who had begun to assemble a force meant to drive out daedra worship in the area. Armed with the knowledge that they were helping create a better world by robbing from Stendarr, Usil’s cult snuck into their compound via portal, intending on taking as much as they could, and then leaving. Unfortunately, the compound was far better guarded than the small cult had imagined. It started with a fight between two guards. The cult one because of superior numbers, but the entire compound had been alerted. They managed to take a significant chunk of gold with them, but were nearly killed in the process. While cornered, Usil managed to escape via portal, but was forced to leave her chosen family behind or risk capture or death.
Without her friends, Usil tried to get back into contact with her mother, but found she was unable to do so. After some investigation she found that her old community had been scattered by the local authorities after a failed uprising during Varen’s rebellion. Usil began to shut herself off to the world once again, discovering a cave near where she was born, and using the stolen funds from the order of Stendarr to slowly furnish the cave. To keep the location of her new society secret until she opened it, she worked closely with pirates, and other sea faring ne’er do wells, who would deliver supplies directly to the mouth of her cave. It took her years to renovate, but once it was complete, she took the first steps into a new chapter in her life. She was to establish the Rose Garden as a place that was safe, just, and free for all.
