Character Name: Samhwen Duskvale
Race: Wood Elf
Age: 25
Sex: Female
Marital Status: Widowed
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Affliction: Lycanthropy
Physical Description: See attached picture
Flairs: Scars on her right shoulder near her neck in the shape of a large bite mark.
Personality: Samhwen can often seem standoffish, or cocky, and is generally pegged as downright unsociable, but underneath her prickly demeanor she can be a kind and compassionate elf to those who she calls her friends. Once Samhwen has a friend they can say without a doubt that they have her unwavering loyalty. She's always got the back of her friends but the only ones who earn the title of friend have to prove that they've got hers first. She's incredibly skeptical of the world, often viewing it as a harsh and self serving place.
Why is your character in Dominion territory? How did they get there? Samhwen has lived in Grahtwood on the outskirts of Elden Root just about all her life. When the Aldmeri Dominion formed it was little cause for care or concern for her.
Background: Samhwen never remembers having parents. She's sure she must have them, after all, how else would she exist? But she's never known their faces. She was raised on the streets, pickpocketing the people of Elden Root and running off back into the forests of Grahtwood before any could even notice. She never knew anything else, nor did she sit around dreaming of her parents or wondering if she had a family. Love was a distraction, and distractions meant a clouded mind. People with clouded minds always ended up getting caught with sticky fingers sooner or later, and Samhwen enjoyed her freedom. She had no desire to end up in a cell. This was the life she knew for many years until the day she met Soren.
Samhwen first saw Soren in Elden Root while purchasing a sweetroll with coin gained from fenced goods. He caught her eye because he was obviously a high elf noble, she could tell by the way he was dressed, and he was obviously completely caught up in the views of the city and not paying attention at all to his pockets. There weren't many opportunities to pickpocket high elf nobles in Elden Root as they usually stayed in their manors all the way in Auridon. Samhwen seized the opportunity of course, and after a slight bump which was expertly made to look like an accident she turned around to apologize to him. However no apology left her lips, instead she exlaimed, "What do you think you're doing walking around all fancy like with nothing in your pockets?" The noble had nothing on him, and Samhwen took offense at this. Why dress like a noble if you're dirt poor? That's when she let the poor mer have it. "You're dressed to the ears in the garb of a noble, but no coin lines your pockets? How's an honest pickpocket supposed to make a living if there's mer like you walking around in an obvious lie?"
The high elf simply stood there, mouth open in shock at this short little wood elf's accusations before composing himself and stammering out an apology. He explained that he was of a noble house, but had been disowned by his father for loving a Breton woman. When he chose love over his position of power, the Breton woman spurned him. In the end, she was only after his wealth. "Well she sounds like a right bitch, she does. Especially since now I can't make a profit off of you!" was Samhwen's attempts at sympathy. Soren didn't argue but instead appealed to Samhwen's obvious underworld knowledge and stealthiness. He explained that his father disowned him, but still sees him as a stain upon his family name, and sent assassins after him. He asked if Samhwen might help him disappear. "Right then, follow me, pretty boy," was all she said before she scampered off into the woods.
Over time, Soren and Samhwen fell in love, Samhwen taught Soren how to protect himself, and the exciting life of illegal activities. Soren, having been raised in a manor as a pampered noble found the life absolutely fascinating, and together they made the city of Elden Root fear for their valuables.
A couple of years after they had married, they were camping together under the full moon when they were set upon by a lone werewolf. Soren managed to slay the creature but not before the beast managed to take a bite out of Samhwen's shoulder. Soren nursed her back to full health, but by the next full moon their fears were confirmed, she had contracted Hircine's curse. With practice, Samhwen learned to control her transformations, for the most part. The only time she ever uncontrollably transformed was when her emotions ran rampant. In those moments, the only one able to calm her was Soren. He would talk to her calmly, and stroke her fur, and she'd settle down and transform back. Then he'd reassure her of his love and that nothing would ever come between them.
She believed it too, until one day, after many failed assassination attempts on Soren's father's behalf, his father decided to try manipulation instead. Soren received a letter via courier, telling him that his father was sick, and nearing his end of days. His father was sorry for everything, and had seen the error of his ways, he was just sorry it had taken until the end of his days to see it. He invited his son home, along with the wood elf wife he had taken on that he had only heard about in rumor, to take his place as the head of their noble house. Soren, filled with empathy for his father, showed the letter to Samhwen and begged her to return to Auridon with him. She pleaded with her husband not to fall for it, she tried to convince him it was a trick, but her promised her it wasn't. She ended up traveling to Skywatch with him, under the guise of admitting he was right, but in reality she was prepared to protect him if it was a trap.
It was a trap.
However it was much more well planned out than she had predicted. They arrived to Soren's family manor to find the werewolf hunting organization, The Silver Dawn, waiting for them. Thrown into a rage, she transformed into her werewolf form and killed them all, including Soren and his father. When she finally regained her Wood Elf form and witnessed the carnage she had wrought, she ran from the manor, and back to Elden Root. However she couldn't stay there, too many memories of Soren lingered there. So she wandered until she found herself staying in the tavern in Vulkwasten, partaking of their alcohol as often as possible, in order to numb the pain and blur the senses.
